That ball clearly tagged Chris Young in the forearm. Do we get the D-team umps on a regular basis or what? I'd like to see one Dbacks game without a blown call by the homeplate ump this season. Is that so much to ask?

First base is a black hole. Nady and Miranda must about 1 for 15 in this series. Time to call up the kid.

Oh, and by the way hitters have figured out that putz has mediocre stuff and they're beating him like a rug!

Huh??

18 saves up to this point doesn't happen on accident

And he's just coming off an injury

Before tonight, he had a better ERA than Brian Wilson.

My brother just texted me and said Upton's HR came right to him but he dropped it

Just awesome. The Dbacks had another chance to walk off against the Giants and FINALLY broke through. Way to go UPTON!

I was surprised to hear this was his first career walkoff HR. I know he's had several walkoff hits

You both said the same thing. He started off strong with no blown saves and has now racked up three.

Starting pitchers don't go 20-0. He's not overpowering, but he is a lot more dependable that what we had last season.

What a performance from Kennedy! He's having an incredible season thus far. Love how he actually gets stronger the deeper he goes into a game!

The D-backs have had 5 wallkoff wins this season. Upton has accounted for 4 of them. Nice! Have to say, he and Young have been performing quite well lately. First base is a mess for us. Johnson is also killing us. And we still need a more pure, high on-base % guy...
This was only Putz's 3rd blown save. He's definitely coming back to earth. He's going to need to stop the fall and get back on track.

Man CY is KILLING this team, what with his top 10 in the NL in HR and RS and his 1.128 OPS so far this June.

When can we get rid of this guy?

I had the tv muted, but did they explain why Kennedy was taken out? I just cringe every time a manager takes out a starting pitcher who is throwing a great game just to have his designated closer come in to finish it. If I guy is hot, why take him out for a guy who may or may not have 'it' that night?

Also, where has Daron Sutton been?

Was thinking the same thing... Kennedy threw 114 pitches, however, he still looked strong andf fresh. He has been throwing a ton of pitches over his past few outings, so maybe Gibby was just trying to not kill him... He should have at least let Kennedy start the inning...
Have no idea where Sutton is.

Game was 2-1 and Kennedy had a pitch count approaching 120 pitches.

Traditional save opportunity (even though it was blown). It's a good debate as to whether you leave in the starting pitcher or bring the closer in that situation, but IMO, you bring in the closer with the fresh arm, who has been one of the better closers in the league this season, especially with only a one run lead. Last season, when our BP was garbage, you certainly leave him in until his arm falls off.

I could understand leaving Kennedy in if the score was 5-1. It gives the entire bullpen a night off since the team has no break until Monday.

Not really. I was questioning the assertion of mediocre stuff. I agree, he is not going to "wow" you with his pitches, but he has a good arsenal of them and can catch you off guard. Plus, he locates his fastball well and is not afraid to challenge hitters by going down the middle. I would not use the word "mediocre" to describe him.

And I certainly agree that he is better than anything we had last season. MUCH better

Just some random thoughts:

- A lot of people love to hate on Sutton and Grace together, but I don't really mind them. They're moderately entertaining at times. Jeff Munn is one of the best in the business IMO, and I like Schulte, so it's been nice hearing him on TV.

- Putz looks like he's hurting a little. Sure would be nice to bring Kerry Wood over and let Hernandez close games out for awhile if Putz is playing through an injury.

- It was awesome seeing Gibson in the scrum after Upton's HR. Why he gets so much hate from a few posters here amazes me. He and Kevin Towers have brought this team from the grave to relevancy in the span of a single offseason. That's all you can really ask for. I don't expect them to be a serious threat to with the WS, but it's been fun watching them be competitive.

Another great win.

Awesome performance by Hudson tonight- first complete game.

Drew was outstanding at short as well.

Good to see Johnson finally get a big hit

Great game. Went with some tickets my grandpa gave us. $50 seats behind home plate (38th row, but still...nice seats!!).

Had a blast. I love games where the pitcher helps himself at the plate. That's how baseball should be played. Every player should bat.

Great game by Hudson.

I was listening streaming radio on the web. All I heard was "grounder fielded by Drew, throw to first, got him in time." Schulte could have just recorded and looped it the entire game.

11 assists. Steve Nash would be proud

Greg Schulte is cool. Grace interrupted him with some of his senseless chatter and he stopped in mid-sentence. When Grace finally stopped, Greg paused, then continued right from where he had left off. I could almost hear the Guv'nor thinking, "Are you finished interrupting me?"

I was visiting friends in Santa Barbara last weekend and got to hear Vin Scully do two games. I was a kid in New Jersey and became a Dodger fan during Vinnie's third year as their TV voice. The best ever!

Jeff Munn is so much in the style of Vinnie. As Schulte, he knows how to set the timing for his color analyst to be smooth. Something Sutton and Grace haven't learned. I would love to see Jeff become the radio play-by-play voice of the D'backs someday.

Vinnie retires in L.A. Munn moves up in Phoenix.
