Crazy postgame last night.

Fireworks show started after that awful Smash Mouth "All-Star" lip sync video put on by the D-Backs' staff. Got halfway through the first song and a ton of fireworks went off at once but stayed low - likely shooting off into the garage itself and the street/sidewalk below. Music (a song by Pink) abruptly stopped...long pause...murmurs in the crowd...lights come on...announcer says "We regret to inform you that the remainder of tonight's firework show has been canceled due to safety concerns for the surrounding neighborhood." Odd wording. As we filtered out we heard fire/ambulance sirens. We asked an officer a little later if anyone got hurt. He said "No, they just have the fire dept. and an ambulance on standby and automatically send them if there are any malfunctions during the show. Thankfully it was just equipment issues. No one got hurt in the garage or out on the street."

Whew.

When Micah Owings was left in to bat, after having pitched two innings in relief, I figured it was more of a righty pinch-hitting situation, then he'd be replaced on the mound.

He made out and killed a rally, as he has many times while pinch hitting this season. As a pinch hitting position player, he might be better. But as as a pinch hitting Pitcher, it is just not working.

When he was left in to pitch a third inning of relief, I said "uh-oh" and he was hit hard and took us out of the game.

He was unfortunately the goat twice last night.

Micah Owings. Pinch hitter-no. More than two innings of relief-no. Valuable to the team? Not any more now than when he was previously traded.

I know it's Baseball and they play a million games but this day off is long overdue. The entire team looked worn out and haggard today. I cant say I blame them, 13 straight games including long flights from AZ to Pitt then from Pitt to Fla then back to AZ for a 6 game home stand FINALLY wrapping up on Fathers day (of all days) that's tough in any sport. Glad they get Monday off, but ofcourse its another travel day so they are gonna have to just suck it up, this is the majors, it's a grind.

GO DBACKS!

Burroughs waived and Willy Mo Pena brought up. Willy Mo was crushing the ball in Reno and he should get a lot of at bats with 9 of the next 12 games on the road at AL parks. The Diamondbacks need a bat for the DH.

Good move.

Burroughs was doing nothing.

Agree

They were making a big stink about how he had his first extra bases hit in 5 years on the radio for days. And it was one double! Wasted roster space IMO.

The good news is the Giants were swept by the lowly A's over the weekend, meaning we're half a game back now.

Pena hits a homer in his first game and Young also homered as the Diamondbacks are beating the Royals 7-2 in the 8th inning.

D-Backs win 7-2 and the Giants are down 8-0 in the FIRST! Baumgardner gave up 8 and recorded just one out.

Should be alone at the top tomorrow.

The Dbacks have been less than impressive over the past few weeks, yet somehow they are in 1st. I guess I'll take it!

We've been playing alright, but the Giants are struggling, who are 4-6 in their last 10. They are currently 29th in the majors in run scored and 27th in batting average. While they have great pitching, all it takes is a team to score 3 or more runs to beat them.

To be honest, I dont consider them a threat any longer. I'm more afraid of the Rockies (2.5 games back), who have proven they can go on a hot streak at any given moment.

Nice win tonite... That's now 14 wins out of their last 18 road games! Wow!!!

Also, they are interviewing Baylor about his "conversation" with Upton last mont in Houston. It's being credited at "the talk" that turned Justin around!

Diamondbacks sweep the Royals. Off to Detroit but it will be a tough one as they will have to face Verlander.
