At this point, I want to see Ryan Roberts play 15 games this year to see what we got. Mora should hit the pine when he comes back from the flu.

Through 4 games it looks like Mora may have lost his job due to injury.

I've watched every inning of the last two games. Roberts is dialed in, so I'm guessing you meant 150 games and not 15.

Anyway, Mora came off the bench today and had a huge, clutch pinch hit. I disagree that he needs to ride the bench. Parra needs to sit down and let Roberts play left.

Mora has/had the flu. He'll probably start tomorrow. The disgusting part of today was Patterson. Demel threw a great pitch to Byrd in the 8th that somehow Byrd drove down the lf line. Nothing you can do about that. Like I said it was a great pitch, down and in, that somehow Byrd was able to fist down the line.

Enter that idiot Patterson. Bases loaded, he has to get one man out, and he throws four straight balls that aren't even close. Hell, I could've done that. The hitter didn't even need to be in the box. Now the D-backs are down two runs (which proved crucial in the 9th).

More disgusting was Gut's pitching to the Cubs RELIEF PITCHER who had all of four AB's last year. He got 2 on him then throws two consecutive breaking balls that missed to even the count. I thought Gracie's head was going to explode. If Miggy was calling for those he should be shot (then again I can't stand Miggy as a catcher).

Bright spots: Roberts and Bloomquist (4 swiped bags in 4 games).

That's about it.

Disappointing: Miggy's ******** (has cost two runs in two games because of bad/ill advised throws) and his idiotic positioning yesterday during the play at the plate covering Upton's throw.

Upton/Young - Upton doing NOTHING at the plate and still making stupid throws (to show off his arm). Young doing nothing at the plate.

Parra: Horrible hacks at breaking stuff. No plate discipline.

Johnson: Where did last year go? He looks a little lost at the plate.

Clutch hitting: 1-21 w/RISP and 3 for their last 45!!!!

So-so: Starting pitching and bullpen. We obviously have no ace. We hace a bunch of 2-3 guys. Nice to see the headcase Vasquez gone for awhile (the famous point at third for the balk/go ahead run). Heilman, Demel, Putz, Hernandez seem adequate.

Miranda/Branyan - Nothing special. Miranda seems to have great discipline at the plate and average/good defense. Branyan is what he is: Butt-loads of power and high K's.

Jury out: Mickolio (but I ain't buying it), Patterson (same thing...what the hell is so hard about finding a decent lefty?) Putz - only one appearance.

Sorry Tyler for hijacking your post, just wanted to vent. :D

Looks like the same old bs just a different season to me. The team:

-finds new ways to lose on a daily basis
-still can't trust the bullpen until the ball is in JJ's hands
-untimely hitting or no hitting
-live or die by the long ball more times than not
-Montero and Bloomquist are the only guys that look like major league hitters
-if the pen doesn't let us down the D finds ways to screw it up (see: finding new ways to lose on a daily basis)

Another long season. I'm still pissed about the Dan Haren trade, such a terrible trade. Saw this earlier today on another board, gold!

The key pieces to that trade are in the minors and have pitched very well. That deal was all about Tyler Skaggs and Pat Corbin. We can't make a decision on how the trade works out until those guys make it to the majors.

Yup, meant 150.

DBacks pick up their second win of the season, beating the Cubs 6-4. CY with an inside-the-park HR. I am not sure if I want Drew to get healthy or not. Bloomquist has been fantastic. Small sample, sure, but great nonetheless.

I am sure you are joking but that is what people said about Eric Byrnes. Now we get to watch Carlos Quentin and Carlos Gonzalez play for different teams.

Nice W today... amazing what solid hitting can do for this team. Another quality start, solid middle relief and JJ slams the door shut again. I would say that if this team can average close to 4.5 to 5 runs per game, they have a decent shot at 80 wins.

Also, can't Bloomquist play third base??

Bloomquist has played 3B before in the majors, but not a whole lot recently. Probably would be a good idea to find out just how well he can.

In the AA today they played their first game of the year. Paul Goldschmidt hit 2 homers including the tie breaking homer in the 9th. Not too shabby a start.

Home opener today against the NL Central defending champ Reds. If we can take 2-3 I will have a little more hope. My guess is we either get swept or win 1.

The entire month of April is killer for the D-Backs. Only the Cubs and Mets finished last season under .500 and both were close. If we can finish the month .500 or even a few games under .500 I think we will be in good shape. If we are more than 6-8 games under .500 I'll be worried.

Wife and I had a blast at the game. Way to go, D-backs !!!

Awesome fireworks after the game too - almost a 10 minute show.

I went with a friend. Great time. The stadium looked clean, the field looked really good, the team played great, the darkened stadium with the fireworks was a good show and there was some pretty good eye candy in our section :D.

Wish I had known you fellers were there, I would've stopped by and said hi.

Totally agree, that was a great time. First thing I bought when I got there was the hoodie they had on sale, glad I did too, it got chilly in there. Had to wait until I got home to understand why it was raining ash the whole time.

BTW- Don't know if the cameras caught it but did you guys get a kick out of Votto's three step dive back into second with no one covering? He looked a little disgusted dusting himself off.

I don't recall them showing that on the broadcast. That is funny.

Q: If the Diamondbacks can win consistently, will they be able to afford more professional announcers than Sutton and Grace?

It did get cold. I didn't have a jacket and it was windy in the upper deck. Next time I'll check the weather beforehand. It hadn't occured to me that a baseball game in Arizona would require a jacket.
