My usual disclaimers:

1. I do not pretend that this is a perfect spreadsheet. While I feel it is about as close to the real thing you will find on the internet it is not still without its flaws. While I have access to a lot of info I do not have access to ALL the info. So if anyone's see's something out of place or has a piece of info to pass along I relish it.

2. Because of the above I will always give a estimate on the high end of the scale to temper possible fan expectations. For example, incentives are the hardest pieces of information to come by, so while I may have what a player could make I do not know if they have reached that incentive or how much of it they have earned, thus 90% I will make the assumption that they have reached that full incentive which could give my final estimate a +/- of $3,000,000 on average.

3. Without knowing new CBA rules and regulations right off the bat this first spreadsheet of the new CBA will very much so be a work in progress and may take a little longer then normal to get info.

$8M for Levi and $7.3M for Joey. What a joke! IMO, they both get released.
That may be another $15M for the Cardinals to spend! Or not spend.

Great stuff Joe!

Assuming a 120 mil cap and the release of DA and Hayes the Cards would have ~ 41,563,083 to spend on FA and re-signings/extensions.

Then there is the 7,333,333 that Porter is on the books for which could be added to the potential spending amount ($48,896,416).

The Cards FO has promised us to be aggressive and the theme of "All In" could make for a good FA period for us. Get a QB and re-sign Sendlein, Lutui, Branch and possibly Breaston would be a great start.

We only have 5 OL currently signed to contracts. No way we cut Levi IMO.

It looks like the Cards are going to be about $30 million under the cap and only need to add 3 guys to Joe's list to make 53 if you count all the rookies.

Also most of the guys we'd want to replace in FA would appear to be dollar swaps(Porter,Hayes,Anderson). So they should have plenty of money to chase FA's. Will we see Graves front loading contracts again? Or am I missing something here?

You know the Cards could pick up BSP for the vet minimum, go with Skelator,Bartel, and BSP and have less than $2 million invested in the QB position. :D

Very good point.

It will also be interesting to see what if any impact the new CBA has on how most of the league structures contracts going forward. Since Cash spent in a season is also being measured then contracts that don't have huge signing bonuses could be more the norm.

Why pay so much on BSP when Max Hall is even cheaper?

Seriously though, I'm hoping the Cards pick up two Vet QB's and let the best man win. Trade for Kolb or Orton and then sign Bulger.

again I defend Levi, no other T has done what he was asked to do ever! we have thrown more with defenses knowing we were going to throw, than any team in history over his career. and our sack numbers aint bad,

Not just with Kurt either,
count the passes he defended with the most amount of oppurtunities to pass block, not frothy emotional appeal about the few misses, to see my point of view.

Levi is values around the NFL, just like LD!

max deal

It's not Max's fault its the stupid brain trust that kept him over Matt Leinart. Stupidest thing I ever witnessed.

Max should have went to the practice squad if we didn't cut him out right.

Releasing Max Hall will cut the Cards Workers Compensation Premium by 45%.

I guess you have never seen profootballfocus stats on Levi Brown the last three years. They do take into account the amount of snaps taken pass blocking which is why they give a percentage rather then total amount of sacks. And even with total amount of snaps taken as a pass blocker he still ranks as one of the worst pass blockers in the NFL the last three years and the worst last year.

Not sure why I am even debating this. This is not the thread for it. This is a salary cap thread nothing else.

I disagree with them

Woosh went my point of attack stats in their efforts. I understand that but that is traditional ways to measure a non traditional situation.

Levi has had a last place run game since Whiz benched Edge, except when Edge was reinserted for the play off run and the SB! If we were not last place in attempts(except for DC that screwed Mcnabb) I might see it differently?

Sorry I can't evaluate Levi like that, blocking for over 600 pass attempts a year with a playcaller refusing to establish a run, or abandoning when it is established, It sucks being Levi, Deuce, Lyle,

Faneca went from 9 pro bowls in a row to sucking out like the Jets said!

Levi would be great on a balanced team, He's a roadgrater!

Haggens may be a bit over priced based on his on field production but not by much and he brings soooo much more to the team I want him back.

He knows Horton's schemes.
No one out works him.
Great leadership.
Perfect mentor for Acho.
Most consistent LBer last year.

I agree completely. Haggans is going nowhere.

If those number are accurate Porter, Hayes, and D Anderson are almost certainly gone. Matt Roth would be a solid OLB to go after for significantly less and could back up Haggans as well.

Matt Roth is probably the best rush linebacker available in free agency. It's close between him and San Francisco's Manny Lawson. You'll find many 3-4 teams eying him closely, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him get $20 million guaranteed.

I've heard his name associated with the Patriots, Jaguars, Jets, Cowboys, and now the Cardinals.

Is there a reason we didn't sticky Joe's cap thread this year?

Edit: That's better.

Is it better to keep and overpay for a player or to let the player go and let the owner keep the money? Many of complain about how much a player is paid and should be let go without the knowledge of what the owner will do with the savings. If the owner is going to just pocket the money I do not care if the player is overpaid. As a fan I am interested in winning and not what the owner makes.

Example: It's $4.66 for Porter

Stop this...

The new CBA requires cash outlays, that seriously limit any pocketing.

Fair enough. He had 6.5 sacks in 2009, which is better than Matt Roth. According to Pro Football Focus (and it's not my bible, but some people believe in it) he had a lot of pressures last year, but wasn't able to consistently collect sacks.

He's reportedly and excellent special teams player as well as a solid starting OLB. It's slim pickings in the free agency pool for edge rushers, but I'd love to bring in Lawson or Andre Carter to compete with Schofield and maybe push Joey Porter's rotting corpse off the team.
