What's been going on with those 9ers, Ronin?
Looks like Alex Smith will be resigned today or sometime this week.

A. Franklin and Goldson aren't going to be back as 49ers.IMO

The 49ers are going strong after Raiders free-agent cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha, former Raiders executive and NFL Network analyst Michael Lombardi reported Wednesday.

The 49ers will cut $2.375 million in salary with the release of reserve quarterback David Carr on Thursday. The club also plans to create plenty of cap space by addressing Nate Clements' $15 million cap figure. If Clements does not agree to a drastic reduction, the 49ers will likely release him, sources have told CSN Bay Area. The 49ers have more than $8 million in cap space before touching Clements' contract.

The 49ers are attempting to make an offer to Raiders cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha -Frank Gore, according to several sources, is planning a holdout. CSN Bay Area is reporting that Gore's base salary is $2.9 million, with a $2 million roster bonus.

Wow.....does San Fran honestly think they can win with the status quo?

There doesnt seem to be a sense of urgency in the Bay Area to improve upon a 6-10 team. You get Akers, but you lose Spikes, Bass, Lawson. You also retain Alex Smith.

I have slim expectations for the Cardinals, but at least our coach has expressed his disgust over last season's futile efforts and backed it up with big signings.

49er fans should thank their lucky stars if they win 5 games.

Harbaugh was already giddy of his two tightends....now he gets a deep threat receiver in Braylon Edwards...are you kidding me?
VD, Walker, Gore, Edwards, Crabtree, y Morgan....wow.

Can someone change the thread title to something more descriptive? Ronin, would you really mind if it were changed?

Lol.

The division is wide open, so who knows what will happen.

It sure didn't look wide open a couple weeks ago...
Now that the 49ers have signed some quality players..I agree the NFCW is wide open.

Colin Kaepernick. When he gets the ball securely in his hands, he’s fun to watch. He can make throws that no other quarterback on the team can make. You can tell he’s motivated to get on the field this season.
Aldon Smith. He stands out more than anyone on defense except Willis. The offensive line often had to double team him. He’s improving on his technique, too. He’s got the tools to be great, but he’s not a carpenter yet, as Harbaugh likes to say.
