Thumb joints are pretty important to the hitting process and sometimes take a long time to heal. Aggravating it is common. I'd say sit him until he has all his flexibility back.

BTW, Parra is showing that, if he had to, he can play Center Field.

In 23.2 innings (heading into today game) Parra has a -4.9 UZR/150.

It is obviously way to small a sample size to make a realistic reading, but if he has that for a full season you would be calling for his head. To give you a reference point, in 93 innings Chris Young has a 25.1 UZR/150.

Parra is a mediocre centerfielder. Not great, not bad, but not someone you want out there 140 times a season. Hell I wouldn't want him out there 40 times a season.

It's still very early and a ton more will happen before all is said and done... BUT, I can't help but feel some angst over the incredibly poor at-bats being put up by Upton and Goldschmidt... Yes, I expect to see this stuff from guys like Roberts, Hill, Bloomquist... but, this team desperately needs certain key players to step up and demonstrate the ability to consistently be a force at the plate. CY was moving in that direction and will hopefully resume his pace when he comes back. But, Upton and Goldy look completely lost. If the D-Backs are to make a legit run at the post season, they are going to need better and more consistent production at the plate. And guys like Upton and Goldy are going to have to produce, not to mention Roberts, Montero, Kubel, Parra, Hill & Bloomquist...

Seriously guys... if you have a certain something in your life than needs to be improved, air it out and I'll place the 'ol 82 kaibash on it... all I need to do is bitch about it and it seems it will instantly improve! Amazing... ;)

I don't think Roberts will produce anything but another tattoo.

I agree. The (Almost) Hebrew Hammer needs to hit his way out of this slump, not sit and marinate in it.

12-11 April

Better than last season, but opportunities missed. CY going down didn't help. Neither did Upton's nagging thumb injury.

Love that Kubel is swinging a hot bat. Kid had a ton of pressure put on him by replacing a fan favorite in LF and so far has delivered. Also impressed by Cody Ransom.

Here's hoping players like Goldschmidt, Upton, and Roberts get hot. A .244 team BA is not acceptable.

12 & 11 for April is actually very good all things considered... as you said, CY going down was a big loss given how hot he was. And Upton still has gotten right (though he did hit a monster blast today)... Roberts is lost at the plate right now. Goldschmidt still hasn't gotten comfortable. Parra is just starting to find his groove again.
We need to fix 3B...it's a major issue. Our pen is also troublesome as Ziegler, Patterson, Zagurski and Breslow have been sub-par. Hernandez as well is struggling (though he did shut the door very well today). Hopefully Collmenter can find his game now that he's back in the pen. Corbin looked solid (not great) for his first outing today. I would expect him to be more sharp when he takes the mound again... Thank god for Saunders, Miley and Kennedy!
Goldschmidt needs more playing time. Gibby has to allow him the chance to work through his struggles.
Really need Drew to come back healthy and effective. Roberts is a nice utility player, but definitely NOT a starter. I would hope that they put either Drew or Bloomquist over at third (Drew would be my choice). And then let Roberts & Ransom fill in for Hill, Willie and Drew at third base.

The Dodgers are going to be a major thorn in our side all year - and will absolutely be a BIG spender come the trading deadline.. And the Giants will of course be there in the end as their pitching is simply too good. Which is also why the Rockies should slip away in the end as their pitching is not that good...

82: I agree with everything on your post except the Dodgers. They are going to take a nose dive, they always do. Rumor is, next year they are moving to the Philippines and becoming the Manila Folders.

LOL... No - their pitching alone will keep them in it. And if they spend wisely come the break, they will definitely be there in the end...
