So, not a sexy pick at all and I don't think he will ever be a top receiving threat. However, this is what Arians wants and Keim is giving it to him and that is a very good thing. Should expect a bunch more 2TE sets and Niklas gives us another physical blocker in a physical division. A big red zone and short yardage receiver which could be very useful.

The only reason I am disappointed is because I really wanted the Cardinals to take an edge rusher and they are pretty much gone. I have yet to see Keim or the Cardinals draft a 3-4 edge rusher or a QB in my lifetime. Until that is done, I don't believe the Cardinals will be a consistent contender. K9 could be right that the front office is gun shy in taking a rush OLB.

Not gun shy just haven't been any to take. Last year we 100% needed to go o line in the first. This year wasn't a good year for OLB you can argue Ealy but he's more of a 4-3 end I would still take him but I don't see a big time OLB when we picked in round 1 or 2

You don't like the pick... we get it.

GREAT PICK BY THE WAY! :D

:D I don't hate the pick, but I'm not thrilled with taking a one-dimensional player. Okay, a one-and-a-half dimensional player.

I don't have a problem with all of this. The problem I do have is we have exactly zero players who can truly stretch the field. That isn't Fitz's game any more. Floyd is good, but he doesn't stretch the field. Ginn? Puh-lease. Housler? Why bother even covering the bum. The new guy? Not a threat to stretch the field. This is my concern, dude (name the movie with this quote!).

One of my favorite players in the draft. Tough, physical player. Forget about his receiving skills which are underrated, he is a dominant blocker who has only played tight end for two years.

He also comes from great bloodlines since he's a Matthews family relative.

I am not sure about how I like it yet, but I will say one thing, it is a boring pick. This draft honestly has been a bore overall outside of the Manziel drama and a few trade backs.

How soon can Niklas play? "how long does it take to get on an airplane?" Arians says

Maybe the plan is to give Housler a more open face mask so the ball can stick in there instead of bouncing off?

That is ridiculous. You make a premium position like rush OLB a priority and go get one unless you want to be stuck without one. Dee Ford was projected as a 2nd round pick and went round 1. Cowboys traded up for Lawrence. Chargers made a move up for Attaochu. I am good with the picks the Cardinals have made, but in terms of drafting an edge rush pressence, they are either gun shy or they are unaware of the premium that is put on the position and are stuck holding their junk.

We are building a very solid roster, and no these are not sexy picks. They are solid players at positions where there isn't a lot of opportunity to pick from.

I do think they would have taken Attaochu had the chargers not grabbed him right before us. He was the last of that group.
Agree, this it what it looks to me also

Reach. You don't grab a blocking TE in the 2nd round. Cardinals not doing so hot this draft. But whose to judge without giving these guys a chance firstQ!

As I said with the Buchanan pick, if you get your man, it is not a reach. So far we have snared two very good players who are great fits with this team. What's not to like about that?

The best blocking TE in the Draft, and the next guy isn't even close. Also the most physical and nastiest. Just learning the TE position, only his 2nd year doing it, so it is impressive he still got over 30 catches and 5 TD's in only his second year. Without a doubt not one dimensional. Room to improve in the pass game but can still get it done. When he does catch it he runs over dudes. No longer have to keep a 6th OT on field to help block which takes away your safety valve player. So not only will Palmer have just as good a 6th blocker as any of our OT's he will now have the safety valve he never had considering the 6th OT is not a safety valve option. His uncle is Bruce Matthews so he will know what it will take to succeed. The kid has a real passion for the game and was nicknamed Hercules by his teammates for how much time he spent working out. Not a reach at all, and was selected at about where everyone thought he would be drafted.

If you like the pick so much spell his name right: Bucannon

Otherwise, we sound like a bunch of homerish dopes applauding the hell out a of pick of a player we knew almost nothing about yesterday.

Yeah, I think it's a very good pick. Another guy with a motor, too. I like the focus on tough, physical hard workers.

Sounds like an awesome pick to me. Thanks for the info.

They are grabbing the best guys available at positions that aren't very deep in the draft...SS there were a few only, they get probably the best fit and overall best measurables, and at TE there were basically none left, so we'd go another season with crap TE play. Now we have another dude who can open holes for Ellington, and can catch well over the middle for short release valve passes.

We are building a very solid roster, and no these are not sexy picks. They are solid players at positions where there isn't a lot of opportunity to pick from.

So far, I like this draft though it isn't sexy at all. If either Mettenberger or Garappolo fall to us at 80 something, I think we take him. Though I'd rather see a C, or a LB, or a RT.

That sounds a lot like code for "this draft sucks"
