I was pretty happy with this pick. We needed a TE, and it seems like Keim is ready to become reformed with some of his garbage legacy prospects. Niklas was the best prospect for this team, at this time. If we'd picked him at 27, I expect that some people would still be praising this pick.

Niklas is probably my favorite pick in this draft.

As a Florida guy I would expect you to know better. The Fins brass is high on Clay. Lynch is a never been never will. He is just a guy with good physical skills. Niklas Day 1 is one of the best blockers on our roster. And again he is a Junior who is just learning the route tree, yet is a HUGE target with soft hands.

SEC K9 FTW!

He is an H back FB type. The problem is the Miami brass is high on Clay.

I acutally agree with you on this. My point is they arent drafting Lynch to replace Clay.

He and every other 4th 5th 6th and 7th round picks are considered depth and starters years down the line. Niklas was picked to start and play and he will. Apples and Oranges in terms of prospects.

I'm hating the pick more and more.

Not that long ago, people were hating on the Floyd pick too. I watch plenty of ND games. I loved both picks & I'm confident that Niklas will develop into an outstanding TE. He's had injuries that have limited his snaps, so he's not in sync with the offense yet. We have plenty of depth at the position, so no need to rush the kid.

You don't use a second round pick with the third game of the preseason in mind. It WOULD be better if he were playing at a higher level than he is now, but it's not time to hit the panic button.

He does have a pretty mouth.

Agree!

We need to remember, that TE is typically the hardest position to adjust to in the NFL.

Save for almost every other TE taken by other teams in the NFL with a high draft pick in the past decade or so.

It's way too early to panic yes but he has displayed zero feel for the position. It's like he's a by the numbers guy he's running routes in his head and doesn't seem to be anywhere near caught up to the speed of the game.

We knew he was new to the position but frankly I'm surprised how overwhelmed he looks, he seems to have no idea what he's doing.

But he was picked so high he'll make the team and he's athletic so they'll give him time.

Always interesting to look back but basically when you pick a guy that high you want to believe there's a good reason why so people tend to be optimistic.

If he could stay healthy and just play a full season or two he might actually develop into a good player. What's interesting is the over the top praise for his blocking before and after the draft, people who do this for a living were calling him like having an extra lineman out there and he's turned out to be a pretty average blocker so far.

He just doesn't seem able to keep up with the speed of the game.
