Even with the injuries, an un-stubborn Manager could turn the D-backs into an overachieving team, as Jeff Hornacek has done with the Suns. One that would entertain the fans.

Unfortunately, following two absolutely mediocre .500 seasons which, so far, have been the outcome of Kirk Gibson's lack of consistency, give no hope for change -- well, some possibility of change: to below-.500.

The team will now be back to it pre-gritty mentality of popups and dragging butts around the basepaths (with the exception of Goldy in both cases). And a starting pitching staff that will give up too many runs.

Despite Gibby's recent proclamation about listening more from now on, improving his bad communications skills still sounds like mediocre at best.

The question is . . . how long is the Front Office going to continue putting up with the 'shoot from the hip' approach of the GM and field manager?

I just hope they don't ever plan on turning it over to the man-child Mark Grace. He is Charles Barkley without some semblance of intelligence.

Can't wait for BC to complain in every thread about the Dbacks trying to hit too many HR's. :)

Unfortunately, though, that's what it's going to take for them to win.

Line drive home runs -- love 'em. Along with doubles and triples. And singles. Popups -- no!

Cont'd. . . . Hey, JS22, Trumbo doing it with line drive singles. 3 so far tonight in the home opener.

And 6 RBI's in 2 2/3 games so far this season.

I think Trumbo is going to be a really interesting addition. If he can just stay around .250 but still give you 30+ HR's and 100 RBI's he's going to be huge.

Hopefully Mark Reynolds type production without, well, being Mark "strikeout!" Reynolds.

It's too bad that the pitching staff is a most likely going to be a disaster this year.

Well, we are 1-5. Anyone care to revise their predictions?

Really bad for 120 or so games, then play well for the last 42 - well enough that the front office will be confident enough in the team to not make any changes for next season.

Nah, because if we're really bad through July they will have no choice but to blow the team up. This roster is too expensive to just sit back and watch them suck ass. So even if they had it in them to piece it together for the end of the season they wont make it that far intact.

I just hope they dont do some panic move in the next month to try and FIX the current roster, dumping more assets for another mediocre older player who wont move the needle.

Agree, but I'm not judging until at least the middle of May.
Delgado gave up 6 runs on 10 hits and 2 walks in his 4 innings in the opener vs. the Rockies. That is an average of 3 on base each inning. Putz is now pitching the 5th.

In our 5 innings, Trumbo has a solo HR, Prado a hit and Goldy a walk.

Boy, am I glad the game isn't on TV. I wouldn't even want to be tempted to watch. Gee, I hope Goldy gets a hit to keep his streak alive. That is how our season is starting out.

I hope the panic move is to fire Kevin Towers.

D'Backs will finish last in the NL West. Team has worst pitching staff in the majors.

I just researched three sites regarding the lengths of this year's contract extensions for the 1-6 Diamondbacks' Towers and Gibson.

Apparently Hall, Towers and Gibson agreed to keep it secret. In an industry where contracts are public information, we the fans aren't allowed to know how long a commitment was made or even if they were offered the same extensions.

I am sure fans don't care how much money they agreed to. But we don't have a right to know for how long???

How to disenchant a fan base! This Front Office sounds F.U.B.B. (The B.B. doesn't stand for color commentator Bob Brenly. it stands for Beyond Belief.)

It would be a good idea for Derrick Hall to clear the air with the Press and fans.

This team cannot pitch and their offense, while having the ability to score a lot of runs, seems to be inconsistent a bit. Absolutely need more out of Prado from the clean up position. The rotation is mediocre AT BEST, and that's on a good day. Pen is dog crap as usual. I don't see how KT and Gibby have jobs if this continues. Empty stadium, frustrated fan base, below mediocre baseball being played once again, it's getting old. I think its time to start pointing fingers at Hall and Kendrick.

Ugh, from up 4-0 in the 4th, to a 9-4 loss...
Goldy's hit streak it also over at 26. He went 0-2, with a strikeout and 2 walks. He smashed the ball right to Cuddyer in right. 20 feet either way and he is still streaking. Oh well.
