Not to single out Will Harris (his 13.50 ERA does that), but I hope that Gibson has abandoned plans for him to be set-up (if we ever have a lead in the 8th).

What a depressing start to the season.

Yes, it's a looooong season. But 1-7 is horrible.

Remember what happened in 1999?

Same thing is going to happen. We need to fight through this.

Hard to argue much with the offense... Trumbo has started the year blazing hot and Goldy is simply being Goldy. Prado showed some signs of life last night and Hill remains solid, as does Owings. Miggy, AJ and Parra need to step it up.
The pitching is truly a disaster. Can't believe how many times our pitchers leave a meatball right over the plate. Their location and mindset is horrendous...
Hard to see Gibby and Towers lasting the season if our pitching can't get over this hurdle...

I don't see it. In 1999 the starting pitching was great, even during the bad start, it was the pen that kept blowing games. Right now our starters have the 2nd worst ERA in all of baseball. And when you look at the staff its not all that surprising. Our relievers, as awful as they have been, actually have a slightly better ERA than the starters.

Montero strikes out with bases loaded. Then he grounds into an inning ending double play with Goldy on 3rd and Trumbo on 1st. Miggy Style!

Really solid 7 innings thus far for Miley. Has forced 4 double-plays which has been key. The offense continues to be better than good enough. Trumbo with another monster TrumBomb! Owings stays hot and Prado continues to round into form.
But man Miggy is horrendous at the plate. And Parra continues his struggles with the bat as well...

They needed that win. Trumbo with the big hit and Miley with the win and 3 hits.

'Good to see Miley take charge and perhaps motivate the rest of the starting staff. 'Not too shabby at bat, too.

I wonder what the story is with Miggy. He started out OK, briefly. Perhaps without the pressure of hitting cleanup, he would hit for a decent average and be an 80-85 RBI man again.

But today's 1-5 kept him right at .200. Even worse, as you said, leaving 5 runners on base over two consecutive at-bats with a strikeout and double play.

There have been plenty of low-.200 hitting Catchers over the decades who played 130 games per year because of their defensive ability. But last year his defense faltered. And he is part of one of the worst starting rotations in the league.

If his defense could suffer because of his hitting woes, could that also be the case in his pitch-calling and handling the pitching? Perhaps we'll never know.

Seriously....

82 has brought more shame to the D-Backs than Russ Ortiz, Josh Byrnes, and AJ Hinch combined.

I would like to change my prediction.

I predict that this summer is going to be long, hot and painful.

On the bright side, 64 Runs allowed in 10 games. We are on pace to allow over 1000, thats ONE THOUSAAAAND runs this season. We would be in very rare company if we can pull it off. I say we go for it! HISTORY BABY!!!

Trevor Cahill has 1-2 more starts to save his spot on the roster.

God this team is awful.
