FWIW, I worked out with a coach from the Hops over the summer and he said the biggest reason he was shipped out was that and how he handled the staff. TL did not think highly of his catching skills at all and his hitting could not justify him being a #1 catcher on a team making that much.
I supported the choice of Miggy over Chris Snyder as our Catcher of the future when the D-backs had to choose.

Miggy gave us a few good years. Then he declined. Snyder never had good years.

I supported choosing Miggy then and trading him recently.

Beef Wellington is an improvement.

Is it really necessary to show that Viagra commercial during EVERY break? Trying to watch game with my daughter and I'm just waiting for the question:

"Daddy what's an erection?" Lol terribleness!

Royals win 4-3.

Royals play the Mets in the World Series.

That was one of the most poorly managed 9th innings I have ever seen by Gibbons. The Runner does an amazing job of stealing 2nd AND 3rd and then the infield basically concedes the run by not even playing in and Gibbons sends 3 guys up there to swing for the freaking fence when basically ANY bunt, pop fly, hell even a soft grounder to the infield would have been enough to tie it. Not smart baseball at all. Oh well, congrats to the Royals. Beat the Mets!!!

Revere isn't a power hitter. He was forced to swing with two strikes after the home plate ump's meltdown that inning. With that said Donaldson didn't come thru either.

I was hoping Joey Bats would get a shot.

My point was with no outs and runners on 1st and 3rd, the Royals conceded the tying run. They didn't even play the infield in.

There is absolutely no reason not to just drop a bunt down there. With the infield playing out they could have easily scored the run and had a runner on 2nd with 1 out.

Terrible managing IMO.

There is less strategy in the American League than the National League.

I am hoping that concept helps the Mets overcome the home field disadvantage.

Governors make world series bet
new york governor andrew m. Cuomo and missouri governor jay nixon made a friendly bet on if the mets or royals will win the world series, with the losing governor wearing the winning team's jersey to work. Game 1 is tuesday.

Me too. I dont know why but I kinda dont like the Royals. Then again I kinda dont like the Mets. lol

I love baseball though so I will watch and hope for some great games. A series like this I will just watch and I usually just find myself rooting for one team over the other for whatever reason, so I'll wait to pick a favorite.

I just dont know how the Royals can beat the Mets pitching tho. This looks like a setup to be a replay of last years series against the Giants.

Who has better starting pitching, last years Giants or this years Mets?

I like the super slo-mo replays where you can see how much the bat vibrates when it strikes the ball.

All I know is, there was NO strategy in that AL, DH ridden WS Game 1:

Not when Collins choose to start Cespedes in CF over Lagares.
Not when the Royals put on their defensive shifts and risked an exposed 3B for a better chance at an out.
Not when Cuddyer replaced Johnson as DH in the 7th to get a platoon advantage on the RP Duffy.
Not when Dyson PR for DH Morales in the 8th, nor when the Mets choose to conceed 2B to Dyson on the run and hit keeping Flores in position to field the GB
Not when Orlando replaced Rios in RF or Lagares replaced Conforto in the OF exchanging defense for offense.
Not on any of the successful or failed bunt attempts in this game (hat tip to Bert).

Nope, no strategy in an AL game. Not without the P hitting...

'Extremes' is not the answer. The DH rule is not about "no" strategy. It is about less strategy.

Obviously nine hitters in the lineup, and not the Pitcher, is an advantage over eight hitters and the Pitcher on a routine basis.

Last night, the Mets, having to match up with a regular DH, batted theirs 8th. That put them at a disadvantage in an AL park.

You keep saying this, but there is simply no proof. The vast amount of strategy in baseball has nothing to do with hitting a P or not.

An advantage in what way? Asthetically? No doubt. Making one team use their P while the other has a DH, of course, but that doesn't happen. Teams play by the same rules in a game.

The Mets had 14 position players and 11 pitchers just like the Royals did last night. What disadvantage did they possess besides carrying overpriced dead weight like Cuddyer and Uribe?
Both DHs were PH for last night, so both teams employed strategy regarding that specific hitter.

That's the point! They don't play by the same rules for the majority of the season. Until the World Series.

A.L. teams play a DH specialist (or two in a platoon) all season long (based even more than position players on just their hitting skills). N.L. teams have to use a sub during the World Series to fill that position. That puts them at a disadvantage.

As I've posted previously, as a long-time National League fan I've never liked the DH concept, but I would rather see the N.L. adapt it than continue with two different sets of rules coming together during the World Series.

Then they'd be preparing all season long to "play by the same rules in a game" as you said.

There is also the factor that kids come to pro ball having played primarily with the DH rule in school and, I think, in the Minor Leagues. Even most baseball leagues throughout the world play with the DH concept.

It is not fair to anybody to have two different sets of rules within Major League baseball over the majority of 162 games each year.

Even in the All Star game, American League DH's are accustomed to sitting on the bench all game except for 3, 4 or 5 at-bats. National League position players are not accustomed to that routine.

The NBA West and East play by the same rules. The NFL's NFC and AFC play the same rules. It's time for MLB to coordinate its two leagues. If not, they should be two entities, each with a Champion, who do not meet in a World Series or All Star game. Just as basketball's NBA and ABA did not before they merged (using NBA rules).

I am not advocating that. I am advocating that MLB plays all of its teams under the same rules. It is past the point of dropping the DH. It is time for the NL (I can't believe I'm saying this) to incorporate the DH, to be consistent and competitive.

I am curious what you guys think.
