The fact they were shopping Bledsoe for the #9 pick and a "potential" big man probably means they are willing to use him as leverage to move Morris and get a bench big or another potential big.

I am would like to see them pick Christmas in the 2nd

Also I like Mouhammadou Jaiteh. However, DraftExpress says both will be gone before the Suns pick at #44.

Do we know if this is true. Do you have a link?

At #44 it's a throw away pick. This was basically our entire draft minus a trade.

Heard it on both local and national radio. Local radio confirmed there was a trade in the works. It has to be Bledsoe because he is the most valuable commodity. Evidently, teams were not as high on Bledsoe as the Suns and why they couldn't move up. Word is the Suns valued their players much more than other teams.

Has to be booker. He will fail in this immature locker room.
ie
Gambo says Booker. They say right now they rate him above Archie.

are you saying this because you've heard something about his lack of maturity or are you just basing this entirely on his age? Archie has been nothing but a tease so far.

I don't think they care about the positioning. And they shouldn't. Take the BPA. Reaching for a big for the sake of size typically results in a big fat bust.

Furthermore, Goodwin and especially Bullock should not factor even remotely into the team's planning.

amen. I'm glad we didn't reach for somebody like Portis because we need size. That said they are going to have to do something about the crowded backcourt. I've been as excited/intrigued by Goodwin as anybody from time to time, but I'm surprised people are still factoring him in whom we should draft or sign as a free agent.

The Suns need to get away from this philosophy. Later picks can work out like Gortat and Dragic.

They are saying there is a MAJOR drop off after the 1st half of the first round let alone the second round. I don't know how accurate that is but sounds like many people think so.

I doubt it. I expect teams wanted some of our future picks. I buy that the Suns were considering moving Bledsoe for the #4, but there was nothing about the Suns considering moving him after that, merely that they were interested in moving up.

I still maintain Bledsoe has value. The Suns maintained before the draft they did not shop him.

I don't buy it. The Suns were competing with Boston at the #9 pick and it's the only thing they had to compete with Boston assets. Boston had more future picks. That means Bledsoe is exactly what they had to offer. Again, word is the Suns valued Bledsoe much higher than other teams which the Suns historically do.

I am not saying Bledsoe has no value but less value to other teams it appears. Even AW confirmed the two teams vying for that spot was Boston and Phoenix. There is no other player on the roster that could get Charlotte to answer the phone.

The Suns will 100% deny it because they don't want to alienate Bledsoe. Expect the official PR denial to follow.

We have several future firsts, we have virtually no bad contracts, we have cap space and a ton of young players. Clearly "competing" with Boston did not matter since neither team moved up.

And the Suns valuing Bledsoe higher than other teams in this particular context is as likely to mean they were not willing to give him up as anything else.

Your tacking on what was speculatory talk concerning the 4th pick and attaching it to the 9th where there was never an indication Bledsoe was in the mix, and it makes sense that it would be the case seeing as the value at that point was dramatically diminished.

Huh? I am not tacking on anything. These were reports coming from the #9 pick not the #4. Boston had way more future picks so the Suns couldn't compete with Boston. The Suns already knew that BEFORE they made a call. That's why I believe the reports the Suns dangled Bledsoe. Makes perfect sense as that would be the only asset that could possibly overcome Boston's offer.

Also, AW reported Charlotte couldn't come to agreement with the Suns but talks were still ongoing with Boston up until the pick. That could mean the Suns were not willing to trade Bledsoe but again, not likely since they already knew they couldn't match an offer by Boston from strictly a pick perspective anyway. They were talking about Boston and their stock pile of picks BEFORE the draft. The Suns had to be stupid not to know that.

For all we know Bledsoe could have been dangles several times leading up to the #13 pick. We will never know.

So the perfect coverup. What about Warren or Len for example?

If teams don't value Bledsoe as much as the Suns do what makes you think they would value Len or Warren more? Bledsoe is a proven commodity where the book is still out on Len and definitely Warren. It is way less feasible the Suns could get a top 10 pick for either of those guys.

That's why I agree that Bledsoe has value. He could be dangled for a trade to be considered.

You're taking on the Bledsoe speculation from the #4 pick and linking it to #9 where literally no one has made that connection despite a ton of rumors spilling about.

And like I said, it does not matter at all that Boston was "competing" with us because neither team made a move. Its not like Boston was going to throw in ALL their picks in an effort to ensure they were the highest bidder. Boston may have more assets but all that matters is what either team was willing to part with, and competing with each-other or not, no one actually made the move to get the pick

Ofcourse they are rumors. NBA teams rarely confirm rumors. That doesn't dispel anything. You really think they are going to admit to dangling a player they just had tough negotiations with?

The fact that nobody was able to make a trade also could mean Charlotte was simply asking too much. It doesn't mean teams didn't offer some of their most valuable assets.

The fact the Suns were "out" first and negotiations were continuing with Boston probably means Boston's offer was better to at least consider up until the pick.

Of course these are only rumors. Enough said.

How often are failed trades confirmed? We all know they happen all the time. Heck even Babby admitted last season they always listen or inquire about trades. He didn't confirm specifics of those either.

What I don't understand is you interpret this as a fact.

I know there are always rumors, but we heard specific rumors about Bledsoe connected to the 4th pick and NOTHING about Bledsoe connected to the 9th. Which makes me think he was not in the discussion and to think he was is baseless speculation.

As for Boston being in the bidding vs us... whatever, it does not matter if Boston had more assets, all that matters is what teams were willing to part with. I guarantee we could have gotten that pick if it mattered enough and gotten it without using Bledsoe. Boston may have been willing to stay in the negotiation longer, Charlotte could have made their first proposal and that was the end of our discussion. But who has more assets does not matter when we're talking about trying to move up to get something with the relative value of the #9 pick.

I could win a bidding war vs Bill Gates over a slice of Pizza if I was stupid enough to drop 100 dollars for it.

What do you mean nothing? I heard it on the radio twice?!? Also, the Suns are not stupid enough to get into a pick war with Boston. I have had my issues with this FO but I don't even think they are that stupid to even bother picking up the phone to try and compete with that.

I guess we will never know where who got their information where but most of the time where there is smoke there is fire.

We've been tuned into just about every speculation available and no one has connected Bledsoe to the 9th pick. You and the rest of us heard the chatter about the 4th, not the 9th, if you somehow heard something totally different than everyone else and it also somehow didn't make it into any other medium then I'd be very skeptical.

Its not about it getting into a pick war, just because Boston is offering picks does not mean we need to offer players. We certainly had the value in pure picks to jump to 9th, but if Charlotte wanted the 13th and the Miami picks or something then its not worth it, no matter what Boston may or may not have offered.

The only thing that can be said is that Charlotte wanted more than anyone was willing to offer.

Exactly. And we do not know if Bledsoe was even offered for #4.
