He would not have been as dominant if he played his entire career under the current rules.

from phone

Maybe, he still would have been ridiculous. I disagree anyway, perhaps the modern game would have limited his touches a tad as things are so perimeter oriented, but a washed up, decrepit out of shape Shaq was an all-star in 2009 under basically the exact same rules we have now. And now you have the new rule change to stop "hack a Shaq", so you put Shaq in his prime into this coming season and he may have the best season of his career now that teams wouldn't be able to throw waves of fouls at him.

I can see the similarities and understand the comparisons of Embiid to the Orlando version of Shaq, in his first year or two. He could very well be the best center in the league in a few years time but that depends on his health. I think he'll surpass the likes of Cousins and Drummond as far as talent and impact though if he can stay reasonably healthy.

JR Smith finally resigned with the Cavs, 4 years $57 million. He's represented by the same agency as Lebron, Tristan Thompson, and Bledsoe. It seems their MO is to hold out as long as possible until the team caves to their demands. I was following this signing a little bit because there was no interest from other teams and he showed no interest in signing elsewhere either. I thought maybe he'd get Latrell Sprewell'd out of the league, making outrageous demands that no one would pay, but I was wrong. I don't like that Bledsoe has the same agent. I get how they've hustled the Cavs into overpaying for Thompson and now Smith but that is in large part because Lebron is basically Co-GM of that team. I'd like to see a team stand up to that agency though, hopefully before the Suns are due to extend Bledsoe or they get another Suns player into their group.

Sources: Bucks, Bulls eye swap of Michael Carter-Williams, Tony Snell
The Milwaukee Bucks and Chicago Bulls are nearing agreement on a trade to swap guard Michael Carter-Williams for swingman Tony Snell, according to league sources.

Sources said the Bucks, who have been openly looking for more shooting and defense on the perimeter in the wake of a long-term injury suffered by starterKhris Middleton just days before the start of training camp, have targeted Snell to give them some much-needed help on the wing.

How many MCW trade rumors is this now, 12? The Bucks have seemingly been trying to move him almost from the moment they suited him up. I love how each of their possible trade rumors has a different excuse tied to it as motivation for the deal (always based on who they are reportedly getting back in the trade). This one is an attempt to replace Middleton's wing shooting and defense, not one of the excuses has told the truth - that being, you cannot win with MCW in your lineup.

Ty Lawson misses team plane. Has to meet with ownership. Bad news on the horizon for the Kings it looks like.

Hmmm. Looks like they could REALLY use a player like Brandon Knight. The problem is that their cupboard is bare. They owe 2017 and 2019 draft picks already. The Kings really need to trade Cousins for a package of picks and maybe players to begin a rebuild. For them to try to trade to replace Lawson would be very shortsighted.

Cousins has two years left. So there is that, limited time.

Knight, Len, Archie and the Miami picks for Cousins? I am just taking a stab. No idea what it would really take, not sure I want him. From a Sacramento perspective, it would be a start at gathering assets to rebuild. They would want to trade Gay for picks too. I am sure they could get a better offer, but its a starting place.

It seems that the FO here has went out to get solid vets, Barbose, Dudley, and Chandler, to help influence our young guys, which is a good thing. I don't want Cousins around Chriss, Bender, and especially Booker. Sure Sacramento is a mess but so is Cousins. I wouldn't mind facilitating a trade with another team though and getting something for that since we have a lot of cap space we would make a solid 3rd team in a deal to move Cousins elsewhere.

I think we're a little harsh on Cousins some times. He has an excellent reputation away from the game (in the community) and by all accounts he has matured significantly on the court. And he's still just 26. I'd make a deal if the price was right but I doubt the price would be correct for us.

IMO, he's good but he's overrated and I'm pretty sure he's price tagged at a level that significantly exceeds his real value to a team. But if we could get him for something like Knight, Goodwin, Warren and the Miami picks, I'd rush to make that deal.

I think that Goodwin represents very limited value all over, particularly in a trade for Cousins and especially that the Kings have another young SG prospect in McLemore who needs playing time but don't get it.

Besides the Kings have only one open roster spot so a 3 for 1 trade is quite difficult. Last but not least in any trade for Cousins the Suns need to include one of their recent lottery picks to even start the negotiations.

It probably has to be Chriss since he looks more promising, the Kings have already one similar prospect to Bender in WCS and Bender as a future, versatile, defensive-minded player seems to be a better fit to Cousins than Chriss.

All in all I think that Knight, Chriss, Len, one of the MIA picks for Cousins, Casspi might be a more reasonable offer.

Not to mention Chriss is from Sac.

Ty Lawson meets with Kings, returns to team practice
But Monday he was on the court practicing with the team, reports James Ham of CSNBayArea.com.

When the media doors opened to the Kings practice facility at the new Golden 1 Center Monday afternoon, point guard Ty Lawson was on the floor with his teammates. It’s been a rocky 72 hours for the 28-year-old after he missed a team flight to Kentucky, but he’s survived for the moment and will remain part of the Kings roster….

Known for his speed and quickness, the Kings have been optimistic throughout camp that Lawson can start in Collison’s absence and provide a major spark off the bench once (Darren) Collison returns.
