The amount of talent on Minnesota's roster is just amazing. Towns, Wiggins, LaVine, Mohammad, Dieng, Rubio, Dunn etc.

I don't know if Dunn will get many opportunities because of the talent on their roster this season but if he does, he certainly has a chance at ROY.

THat was an understatement. Kawhi Leonard was insanely good and if Simmons plays even half that good off the bench all year SA will be very good. He outscored the entire Warriors bench by himself, in just the first half.

Warriors starters other than Klay looked fine, the bench was terrible. Getting concerned about iggy he had a tough finals, was a bit slow in the preseason and was terrible last night. Early in the first half he got hit in the face by accident(think it was Kawhi) and I almost wonder if he had a concussion he was having trouble keeping his feet the rest of the time he was in there.

The Warriors are going to be a process they lost quite a bit of scoring off the bench.

Mine too. He struggled in preseason, but he was awesome in summer league. All he has to do is adjust.

As far as I remember he only really had 1 standout summer league game and that was it, he did not play more.

Archie Goodwin was awesome in summer league too.

Kris Dunn won't be the ROY.

Hield, Embiid, Chriss, Murray seem like front runner candidates right now if Ben Simmons does not play.

I would be worried about the Warriors defense and rebounding.
Who is this Simmons kid? I have never heard of him until last night

To be fair very few teams move the ball and shoot as well from 3 as the Spurs did last night. at one point their bench was 5-5 from 3's in the first half. It's very difficult to guard a team that goes 12-24 from 3 and when you run them off the 3 they go 23-26 from the FT line by driving on you. I think they missed Bogut's rim protection and they missed Barbosa and Speights scoring, they got SIXTEEN points off the bench all game.

Rebounding is a concern 55-35 SA last night. Miller kept talking about how small the Warriors are this year I don't think he gets they're actually bigger than last year in the "base lineups." Pachulia is 2 inches shorter than Bogut but Durant is 3-4 inches taller than Barnes was and the other 3 are the same. When they go to the "death" lineup now they're simply putting Iggy in for Pachulia so same 4 guys but Durant instead of Barnes so again they're bigger not smaller. But they gotta rebound, Curry and Klay had 4 combined rebounds.

And again my biggest concern right now is Iggy, 27 minutes 2 boards 3 assists 2 points -TWENTY EIGHT in the plus minus. I think he got hurt early when he got hit in the face and probably shouldn't have been allowed to stay in the game. I saw him fall or get knocked down 3 times in the first half alone I don't think he was all there after the blow to the face. I really hope that's what it is, I know he's played lots of games but he's still only 32 years old, if he's suddenly declining with the losses off the bench that's a HUGE problem. He's such a valuable guy for them in the death lineup and with his defense, if he is in decline they have a problem.

But all last year I was saying I thought SA would beat the Warriors in the conference finals and win the title, they've effectively replaced an over the hill Duncan with Pau and David Lee and even without much production from either of them they won easily because their bench, Mills and Simmons in particular, were so good. they're a very well coached team with good players, not surprised they won, surprised they won so easily.

Simmons only played 1 year of college ball after juco, he's already 27 he's been in the D League apparently. I kind of doubt he's THAT good, last night he was unreal, he had 15 points and was 6-6 at the half he was the difference in the game.

Yep. I was offered free tickets recently and had the choice of a number of games. I chose the Minny game for this reason. I want to see the young talent.

Obviously the Warriors are a title contenders but I don't think Durant makes them better than they were last year. They didn't lack for starting scoring and outside shooting, sure, having another guy who can create his own shot is great but is he going to do it any more efficiently than Curry was? I doubt it. And an argument could be made that being more selective will make him and Curry more efficient... but I doubt it, especially with how good Curry was at defaulting to teammates already, if anything I think their combination will take away from each of their potency as they yield opportunities they're normally comfortable with. There is only one ball. Durant and Westbrook had a tricky enough balance between them and they didn't have the other mouths to feed that the Warriors do.

And in order to get Durant the Warriors had to sacrifice a lot of depth. Their bench is a shell of the unit they've had the last few seasons and if they had any weaknesses it was defensive consistency and rebounding, two areas they're clearly worse.

Basically, Durant is an amazing player, no questioning that, but the stuff he brings to the table is stuff the Warriors already had in bunches, and they had to sacrifice in areas they were not nearly as strong in to get him.

I think they overreacted to Harrison Barnes not being able to make a shot in the Finals. If not for his epic choke, they win easily.

I agree, Chriss could be right there especially if he can work his way into the starting lineup. He appears to be a lot more ready than I envisioned prior to watching him play.

Yep once they started signing guys after Durant that was what was being discussed here on this board. The starters might be better but the bench looked weaker. That's why Iggy is such a big deal, if he just had a bad game fine, but based on how he played from Portland on last year and the preseason to now, if that's who he now is, the Warriors are in trouble. 2 years ago he was the 3rd best player on the team yet coming off the bench. last year arguably still 3rd, maybe tied with Green, coming off the bench.

They really are going to miss Barbosa and Speights it looks like for their offense, so they really need Iggy and Livingston to still be great off the bench by adding defense and energy because it's very unlikely they're getting much from the young guys like Looney, McCaw and eventually Damian Jones.

They were talking about Durant midseason though, that's why Barnes went into a slump midseason when rumors hit about Durant and the Warriors.

Overpaying Barnes would not have been a great thing either, they still probably would have lost some of the bench although not as much as they did by signing Durant.

It's one game don't want to overreact, Klay missed about 5 wide open shots in the first half including a 3 that would have put the deficit down to 5 points. Instead he missed the Spurs go 12-2 and close the half up 18 and the Warriors never got it back. But it does look like the bench is much weaker so the starters have to be better.

Wait, you mean the NBA has a rules double standard for its stars? I've never heard of such a thing.

Report: NBA owners rejecting expansion 'at every turn'
Sorry, Seattle (and Louisville and Las Vegas and…). The evidence is overwhelmingly on the side of the league staying at 30 teams. You'll probably just have to poach a team from another city
