Saw something about the Bulls are seriously considering trading Jimmy Butler, if they get the right offer. He's a player I'd be more than willing to give up everything that was rumored we'd need to part with for Cousins. I wonder what the Bulls are looking to get in return though, what positions they're trying to fill or if they're looking for youth or veterans.

From what I've heard they are only interested if it's a killer deal. From us that would probably be something like our pick this season, both Miami picks, TJ and probably one of our two rookie forwards. Personally, I wouldn't touch him for a fraction of that price.

Did you see him against Miami near the end of January, the game where he didn't start? I would never want someone on my team that intentionally threw a game. He missed shots on purpose, fake defended, slowed down to avoid involvement in plays, stood still when action was required, actively avoided rebounds and all to send a message to his coach and his teammates.

I think getting Butler is a very very bad idea for the Suns.

He wants to be an alpha dog and has an ego, he would clash with Booker. That would be pretty bad team building to put together 3 players at the 1,2,3 that are all at their best with the ball in their hands.

I'd pass on Butler unless all it took was Knight, Bender, Warren.

Didn't know Butler did that. Of the reasons I was more interested in him instead of Cousins was his attitude, or rather he didn't have all of Cousins baggage but apparently he has his own. Other than the maturity and attitude problems, I'd say Butler is a better player than Cousins overall. He helps his team win more and has been to the playoffs, he doesn't just produce empty stats.

Not to defend him entirely in terms of his attitude problems but the Bulls have been a mess since Thibs was fired. They were a contender in the East while he was their coach and have been a 500 team without him. I know they didn't have much playoff success with Thibodeau and they used that as the reason to let him go but they've been a mess under Hoiberg. Players have been unhappy, the team has been underachieving, and management doesn't know whether to rebuild or retool.

The Bulls did Butler dirty after he declined their initial extension offer. I can't blame him for either wanting out or being "checked" out.

Complete player.

To purposely miss shots and not even put in any effort to play...that's beyond childish. You're a professional being paid millions of dollars to play a game...time to grow up and act the part. He sounds like a me-first player...aka never going to win a championship.

Maybe. It's interesting that this "story" came to Butler via Thibs who supposedly refused to cooperate against Butler. And the stories out of the front office for the past several years was that Thibs was regularly trying to create discord between players and management. Who knows where the real truth lies? I'd probably lean towards giving Thibs the benefit over that FO but it's just a guess. But regardless, you don't throw your teammates under the bus like that.

I didn't hear about that. If he's purposely doing things to hurt the team than you can't do that. We've seen countless players do similar stuff though; Kobe vs the Suns in 06'... Lebron vs the Celtics in 2010.

NBA players are such divas lol.

I've never seen anything like what Butler did at any level, not even from "Hawkeye" Smith when he was shaving games at ASU. The closest I've seen was Kobe's non-participation game but this was way beyond that. The way I remember Kobe's act, he just refused to shoot or am I misremembering the incident?

I don't watch the Bulls play very often as I can't stand Wade and never liked the way Thibs taught his guys to play. But from my somewhat limited experience, I'd prefer Cousins over Jimmy. My biggest concerns about Cousins have to do with his on court temper (Techs) and the risk we'd take by trading a lot of assets for a player that isn't bound to us beyond this season.

Drummond is another player I'd be interested in over Cousins. Drummond would actually fit better considering his age also, he's only 23 and he's already playing at a really high level. I wonder what sort of offer Detroit would be interested in. I know McD has swung deals with SVG in the past, having sent Marcus Morris there and Anthony Tolliver in separate deals.

Bradley Beal on Carmelo Anthony making All-Star game: ‘The process of it does not make sense’
Anecdotally, the most popular choice to replace an injured Kevin Love in the All-Star game: Bradley Beal.

NBA commissioner Adam Silver’s actual choice: Carmelo Anthony.

Beal, via Candace Buckner of The Washington Post:

“I’ll never say a player doesn’t deserve to be on the all-star team. For one, Carmelo is a great player. Hell, he’s been one of the best offensive threats in the league for years now, and I’m taking absolutely nothing away from him. But the process of it does not make sense. If they reward winning, then I don’t understand how the decision was made,” Beal said Thursday morning. “It was kind of weird to me.”
