Curious too that BA said tonight that he doesn't think the will sign another CB, only if they need to at a alter date. Hmmm.

that thought is kinda scary with a team that is looking to be the Super Bowl Champion

Excellent point, WC!

I think that SK made this pick now because the Patriots had a 3rd round comp pick right behind us, and knowing that Belichick worked Williams out just a few days ago, and sensing that Belichick would have picked him.

It might have been some gamesmanship too if the Cardinals were planning to take QB Jacoby Brissett at #92 and the Patriots took him at #91.

That surprises me I really thought we would bring back powers, and let Bethel and Williams develop. This would so provide some injury insurance.

What this says to me is that Tyrann is going to play his fair share of CB and that they like Asa Jackson.

Looks to wrap up and is a good open field tackler. Gets out of the hole. Fluid hips.

And will when that be? I really find it hard to believe he's gonna be ready when the season starts & possibly not til Nov or later. He had Surgery in January

We got absolutely torched by speedsters last year. I am thinking this pick is all about that. My guess is he plays more than people think.

I think he plays more CB than Bethel next year or at least more on the outside than Bethel.

Keim mentioned that Williams is one of the few guys in this draft who have the size and speed to play on the outside and I guess that makes sense as some of the other CB's still available are either small and speedy or tall and slow. I wonder if ARZ takes another CB in this draft since Keim said he isn't planning on signing another CB at this time.

Guess who they are describing:

"He's going to have a great workout at the combine and get overdrafted. Frankly, I was surprised he was even invited." --* NFC area scout

It seems readily apparent that you are endorsing your opinion off of where the media ranked him and using info you find now to justify your feelings. Keim and staff base it off their scouting staff and professional experience and the former defensive coach of LSU who coached Peterson and Honey Badger and is now at A&M who gave a glowing opinion of Williams when the Cardinals asked... and you should also then follow this scout and be surprised he was invited for personal workouts with the Patriots and the Steelers :)

Strictly judging from the reasons/arguments given by posters that dislike this pick, Brandon should start writing his HOF acceptance speech.

Yes. Christian kirk. Big time talent and had a great freshman year. Probably would be the returner on about 98% of ncaa teams.

I have to (somewhat reluctantly) agree, almost every time we pick a player... that the majority of us love, the pick ends up being a train-wreck.

I remember that long stretch, where most pundits had our drafts rated top shelf, and all that ever got us... was another sub .500 season. :D

It's because this current front office isn't just looking for the most talented player. They are looking for guys who are good leaders and the type of guys that will put the team above all else. At times I believe they will somewhat overlook skill in favor of the latter. This causes more of the picks to be players that have you going "who!?" or "reach!", but the reality is that our current front office is looking at aspects that most of these "experts" aren't really paying attention to or just aren't valuing as strongly.

It's funny, when I saw video of him playing CB, I thought to myself, "He looks like a running back." Turns out he is...LOL.

Our RB's have been less than durable over the years, so if we don't end up with a decent DB, maybe we have a workable backup RB?

That's a value pick right there my friends!

When I read that another team was going to take him in R4, and when he does something spectacular on the field to make me think he is good, I will reserve the right to criticize this and any pick the Cards make. That doesn't mean I won't be rooting for him. But I have been right more times than not on criticizing who we picked and when. In this case, it all comes down to the when. Until I read otherwise, I will always assume we could have gotten him in round 5 or 6, and we passed on some dang good players we could use right now and who won't be there for us 30 picks from now. A few are already gone. I just hope Simmons, Day, Westerman, Willie Henry, D.J. White, Killebrew, Peake, Kwiatkoski, Zack Sanchez, Matakevich, D.J. Reader, to name a few, don't turn out to be as good as many think they can be. Those first 3 names in particular are really good proven football players with tons of experience. Simmons would have been a dream pick at 92. He was a top 50 player and considered as having great character and work ethics. Hard to pass him up. It is like someone was giving us a gift and we refused it.

I wish I could remember when a player that nearly every site had rated as a 7th/FA went in the 3rd. Think of the good picks we have made the last few years that were nearly as unknown as this kid. Our front office is great at finding them. But we have the patience to wait till R5 or R6. It is just too hard to believe right now that this kid is that damn good, yet everyone else with any knowledge at all has no viable or decent rating on him.

That is my opinion and I'm sticking to it until I hear some other team's coach or front office say we stole this guy from them.

After all that, let me say that its really no big deal .... we have missed on higher draft choices many times. Gambling on a 3rd won't be the death of us.
