Jibes with iupati and Mathis pickups. Building tougher, run-oriented line.

Precisely. Cardinal Tough is starting to become a reality! Boehm is the toughest and nastiest of all the centers in this draft. He digs and anchors beautifully. I thought his feet this year were not quite as aggressive as in previous years, but now I know why---he was playing through a painful ankle injury. And to his credit---he was still playing at a high level.

I recall some of you pre-draft threads. This is a guy you wanted!!
Good call, Mitch.

Rounds 1,2,4 give us immediate starters. Round 3 brings a project with tremendous potential.

Not bad!

Anyone else getting REALLY excited to see what DJ can do with a revamped interior OL this season? Mannnnnn he is going to be a beast. I haven't researched the draft at all but this sounds like a great pick by most accounts. We need nasty in the trenches.

This guy fell because he rarely has snapped to a QB under center. That seems like a small detail but it's messed up a few guys. He also has an issue with blocking at the second level. He tends to get upright and lacks leverage.

That said this is an excellent pick who will need to be coached up a little, but could play immediately if need be. Someone mentioned he was a wrestler. He was very good at it with a great record. He could have gotten a scholarship in that sport as well. This guy is tough and mean. He adds much needed ferocity to this line.

He has real football smarts and makes solid blocking calls. His motor is top drawer. Not surprisingly he's an outstanding drive blocker. His natural low center of gravity helps with leverage in tight spaces. Don't be thrown off by the negative agility comments you may see. He handles the up-the-middle seams well and rarely allows them to be split. He might be the best anchoring center in the draft.

His toughness transfers to playing injured. Incredibly, if you've had one, he actually played with a high ankle sprain. He's also played through a variety of back, shoulder and leg injuries. He's never missed a game. Once he starts he'll be there for a long time.

This guy was a team captain and his leadership skills are exemplary. He holds line mates accountable. I think he offers more than Kelly and will have a better career.

Couldn't ask for a better pick at this point, now I'm officially thrilled with the pick.

With this kind of endorsement from Harry this pick really has me excited.

I have been wanting to upgrade the C position for years and I was not a Lyle fan.

He's got good strength at the POA. He's a center that can hold his ground and block well in a phone booth. Tough and smart and was a team captain. He is not a guy that will be successful getting to the second level. Should be a decent center for a long time. Best thing is he can get the job done and we will never have to pay him much.

Love the pick. Tough, smart, and, perhaps most importantly, extremely durable. I will be surprised if he isn't starting by Week 4 at the latest.

Holy crap we did it!! I didn't know if we'd take this kid but he's the center I wanted. 10 years til we have to look for a center again. This guy is fearless. I watched lots of centers since I knew we needed one and I loved this guy. The leadership and intangibles are just great. Sendlein, while serviceable, got blown back a lot. Boehm not only won't have that happen, he won't ALLOW it to happen. Tough bastard.

Sounds like an ungraded version of Seindlein.

I bet he starts day 1 which is huge because Shipley isn't very good:thumbup:

This was the post day one center I wanted. When I watched game film on all the center prospects, this was the guy that jumped out me. He's tough, a greatime help blockernel, and he can drive block bigger DTs.
