I'll be super interested to see who Keim's prove it guys are this year. He absolutely struck gold with Freeney and Johnson and bottomed out with Weatherspoon. But 2 out of 3 ain't bad. I just don't want to have to keep depending on those type of guys because it could put us in a hole eventually if we strike out.

Floyd is a conundrum. He is a quasi #1 receiver and a solid #2 receiver. Is a player of that stature worth $7 mil a year? When you look at the roster and see Brown, Brown, Nelson and I am going to put Shipley in here you kind of have to say even without Floyd the WR group would be fine. They could even bring in a second tier WR out of FA and pretty much replace Floyd. Floyd is certainly not elite by NFL standards. It will be interesting how this all shakes out.

I would like them to keep Floyd. He would be missed. Hopefully they can sign him to an extension that makes it a win win deal for both sides.

Jeremy Maclin's contract with the Chiefs averages about $10M per yer, and Floyd would/will get that after this year if he's similarly productive.

He's a step behind the elite #1 WRs in the NFL (A. Brown, D. Thomas, A. Green, J. Jones, A. Bryant, O. Beckham), but just behind those guys. Off the top of my head, he'd easily be the #1 WR for these teams:

San Francisco
Seattle
Los Angeles Rams
Minnesota
Philly
New Orleans
Carolina
Baltimore
Cleveland
Jacksonville
Tennessee
New England

That's one-third of the league. To say "We have Jaxon Shipley; we can afford to lose Michael Floyd" is out of line with reality.

LB Daryl Washington---$7.5 ($5.5M dead money)

Washington will be designated a post-June 1st cut, thus the dead money hit will only be 3 million, FYI.

It depends. They'll have to carry the full $5.5M on the cap through June, anyway. It makes sense if you're going to do some extensions before training camp, maybe. If you want maximum cap flexibility in 2017 (when Fitz and Palmer's contracts both void out and you're taking on a s-ton of dead money already), it doesn't make as much sense.

I agree, when Larry retires ARZ will need a big receiver like Floyd.

I would hate to see us lose Floyd. He brings toughness in the run game and is also a deep threat. Both are critical in this offense and are not easily replaceable.
