Looking forward I don't see the light at the end of the tunnel. We don't need to take on expensive contracts at this time because we can't even afford to keep the players we have moving forward. We have around 22 expiring contracts which most are starter quality or starters. There is no way we are going to resign them all and next year our talent level will inevitably be lower than this years. To add insult to injury we will have an aging Larry Fitz and Palmer if they both decide to stay. Our window isn't two years it's one year.
http://overthecap.com/free-agency/ Click on Cardinals 2017. That's ugly.
We are entering a rebuild in a few months. There is no way around that. This is the point of the salary cap. It is intended to dismantle good teams and we have been good for an extended period in terms of NFL time.
Look at the Patriots as an example of a team that extends that window in the trade they made today. I don't recall us doing anything like that? We have a lot of problems and no margin of ever.
We got to watch a great team the last few years and unfortunately we are just going to have to be a little patient with the team for a few more.
