Great idea.

He'd be a free agent for about 37 seconds and then have one of the largest deals for his position, ever. After he balls out elsewhere, Keim would look like an idiot for taking that approach. Fortunately, Keim isn't an idiot and is going to get this deal done sooner rather than later.

TM is going to get monster money, and he deserves it.

So DITTO!! Badger has become one of, if not THE most recognizable faces of this franchise. And once Fitz leaves/retires, he will be #1 and the official face of the Cards! His story, his play, his personality and his ability to connect with players, coaches and fans all combine to make him the real deal and worthy of whatever $$ gets tossed his way! Like Fitz, I never want to see Badger wearing any other uniform but Cardinal red! ;)

Cardiac---I am all for playing it smart with the rehab---I think we all are. But, wouldn't it be wise to wait to see how the rehab goes and whether Honey badger can return to form before the team makes him one of the top 5 highest paid DBs in the NFL?

The team can use the franchise tag or the transition tag, if need be. Perhaps they can get a mid-season contract extension done with Honey Badger and/or Chandler Jones. They did mid year extensions with Carson Palmer and Justin Bethel, for example.
Totally agree Walter.

The only reason I can think of trying to get a deal done now is because of Jones being on a 1 year deal as well. I'm scared giving him top $$$ because of the injury his not his performance.

Someone big on this roster is likely out in 2017

I am thinking it is Campbell, or possibly even Fitz because I think Floyd can be had for a good price regardless of the ongoing trade him now sentiments we often hear... it is the natural course of matters unless Fitzgerald or Campbell will take a big pay cut

Personally I think it's Floyd who's likely out. Along the Dline the Cards really have nobody who any team really who have to worry about in pass pro, given RN is a rook, unproven a never really a huge threat in college. Given Fitzs status & importance in both the pass game & run blocking I don't think he's out until Palmer retires or unless the Redbirds hoist the Lombardi this year. IMO it's gotta be Floyd for those reasons & that while he's a good player, he literally no shows for stretches of games.
