Cardinals select a safety in Jonathan Ford. I wonder if he has CB skills. Maybe special teams?
Nope, DB Johnathan Ford, AuburnHas to be Chad Kelly
Strengths
Compact frame carries some pop as a tackler. Comes downhill ready to put in work. Maintains run fits and leverages running backs to the sideline. Aggressive hitter who hits with his head up and looks to run through his target. Consistently productive tackler who is an efficient finisher. Has decent hands and can take the ball away if it is there for him. Plays safety and handled man coverage as a nickel this season. Has kick return and coverage experience on special teams.
Weaknesses
Plays with tightness in his hips. Is slow to open and transition in coverage. Gives up too much separation out of breaks to be counted on in full-time man cover situations. Straight-liner who can be slow to sink and change directions in space as a tackler. Lacks the length to slide around open field blockers quickly. Route anticipation and instincts are just average. Production on the ball is below average.
Draft Projection
Round 6-7
Bottom Line
Ford has been a solid starter and productive tackler as a three-year starter in the SEC, but his tight hips and lack of instant acceleration could limit what teams are able to ask from him in coverage. He will likely have to add some weight and try to prove himself as a backup box safety who can make plays on special teams.
Ford was a fourth-year senior in 2016 who appeared in 52 career games (24 starts) and finished with 275 tackles, 11.5 TFLs, 11 PBUs and 5 INTs. He is a versatile safety who has experience playing at the nickel-back position and was the teams' leading tackler in 2014 and 2015 (combined for 211 total tackles). Ford is a better run defender than coverage safety. He has elite speed but some hip tightness, so he's more effective when lined up closer to the line of scrimmage and when playing the ball in front of him. He grades out as a mid-Day 3 prospect. -April 8, 2017

I have a feeling Tyvon Branch will start at CB2
My take on this if you were counting on the draft for a day one starter at CB you will be dissaponted even if we took a couple of them. The depth of CBs in this draft will free up a better crop of older CB's that get released or won't get signed which I think is a way better route anywayOkay guys help me out here. After my initial quarterback disappointment I have been excited about this draft. You guys know your football and every time I read something it's about needing a cornerback. This is the second safety we have picked someone tell me we can move one of our guys to cornerback. I wouldn't be concerned at all but lots of you have me convinced we're in dire need what's the deal????
NFLN scroll says he played some CB and RB as well as Safety. Led the team in tackles in 2014 & 2015 and ran a 4.37 40.
coming up bruce arians steve keim draft wrap up and we will know how they see himWe got our cornerback. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
