Another Frustrating Day for Rosen
Sam Bradford got the day off as the rest of the Cardinals labored in the friendly confines of Arizona’s indoor stadium, so it was Josh Rosen’s time to shine with the ones. He did so with the benefit of a less-than-live pass rush after Saturday’s inconsistent performance behind a struggling second-string offensive line. Sorry to say, the 10th overall selection in the 2018 draft didn’t look much better against his own teammates. Part of that can be blamed on a wide receiver group without a clear No. 2 to Larry Fitzgerald, but many of Rosen’s wounds were self-inflicted. While his footwork looked solid, Rosen air-mailed several balls at the goal line and down the sidelines, and looked out of sync with route-runners.

If you watched the game, you understand that Rosen played about as well as you would expect. He is not the athlete who can create a bunch of space to throw. He is a timing and touch thrower whose entire game was thrown off because of the bad snaps.

Pretty solid game from Rosen. He made some great throws & then had a few mistakes to learn from (another delay of game, another almost picked off bad throw to the left sideline, an almost intentional grounding that wasn't called).

He had more time & better snaps. He moved pretty well in the pocket. He threw some darts about 20 yards downfield & even took a chance with a well thrown deep ball that drew a PI.

Overall, a very positive 2nd pre-season game.

So thankful he has the opportunity to sit behind a vet QB, and that the weight of the world is not yet on his shoulders.

You can see the promise in him, but he needs to be brought along in a certain way to give him the best chance to succeed.

He has had those delay of games but I can accept those early on because unlike some rookies, they are happening when the boy is actually trying to audible and you do not see that often... kid is smart

This.

You see him out there directing traffic. I'm not mad at that it's rookie growing pains

This is what I was talking about. Let the kid grow. He showed some of the reasons why the Cards drafted him. Hope the progress continues.

Very encouraging outing for Rosen. Loved the Cole to Rosen to Kirk connection. Solid draft picks that can grow together.

I didn't see many Rookies that audible in game 2 of preseason.

Josh sees what he is getting by the D and audibles to it, very smart. That he didn't get them all out in time, growing pain, but if he continues his growing, we have a great talent.

I'm kind of interested in what happened on the plays with Rosen audibling with the 1st string OL. It looked like Pugh had issues with Rosen audibling... either Rosen didn't communicate the audible well enough for them to hear or Pugh saw something that Rosen didn't. Wolfley was speculating that Rosen wasn't properly reading the defense & mis-identified the Mike LB. It looked like Rosen tried to audible when the Saints showed heavy blitzes, but the WR screen he audibled into was thrown into a crowded area that had little chance of success.

It's all a learning process... maybe he should've listened to Pugh.

but Pugh is new to the offense as well..as well as the center who has to make the line calls... there was plenty of room for someone to make a mistake in those scenarios other than Rosen.... but its nice to see the kid has enough confidence to make his read, then trust his read enough to make audibles at the line...errors happen....they have time to fix it

You can tell that McCoy is really enjoying what he has in Rosen. After the delay when he came back to the sidelines, McCoy was addressing the situation to him and as Rosen was walking off out of view of his coach... McCoy was smiling :)
