Even though the money rack is somewhat new it still would've been a 26 under the old rules. Curry had a 27 under the old system.
I don't see how this is true. Craig Hodges holds the record for most made shots in a round with 21. Curry would have had to make at least 22 to score 27 under the old system. My guess would be that the 27 was under the new system.

Edit: It was under the new system.

That’s a prettt cool win for Booker! More national recognition can only help his confidence and gain more respect from refs (aka get more superstar treatment).

Anyone see Larry Nance Jr.’s homage to his Dad in the dunk contest?

For the love of God... why wouldn’t they just go back to those great uniforms he flashed?

I also thought he should have won. Not the most impressive dunk contest I have seen to be honest.

Spencer Dinwiddie won the skills challenge. I know he's someone that has been mentioned as a potential PG target. Not sure how much that would change Brooklyn's asking price but I don't think the Suns need to look for that much help at PG since they have Payton now. Probably add another PG through the draft and they'll also have Knight returning next season.

I got home late and missed the 3-point contest. I guess Devin recuperated.

Way to go, DBook. Some needed positive publicity for our Suns.

I don't really care for the All-Star game itself but typically pull for the West since the Suns are in that conference but unless a Suns player is present then I really don't care much for it. With the change to captains I have virtually no interest in the game at all this year. I guess it depends on who the captains are but with Steph and Lebron as the captains this year I have virtually no interest in the game. I think I'd have trouble rooting for team Lebron even if there were a Suns player on his team. I have less interest than normal though with the captains that were chosen. Does anyone else have less interest because of the captain format?

We've seen Team Steph vs Team Lebron in the finals for the last 3 years. Now it'll be shown with no defense and nothing at stake. If it were Team KD vs Team Westbrook or Team Kyrie vs Team Lebron then I might be interested in the game but I can't find a reason to watch the game later, which sucks as an NBA fan.

I don't care about it either, at least without Suns participating. I do think they should bring back east vs west. Enough focus on the stars. Bigger than the conferences now, huh.

Stop mentioning the knight!

I've been one of the most vocal Brandon Knight detractors on here, but...

I don't hate the potential fit of Knight as the Suns backup PG if they bring back Payton.

A score-first point guard with questionable decision-making but the ability to get hot can be an asset off the bench, particularly as a change-of-pace from the starter.

Of course, this only works if he truly has found some humility through this experience (which he says he has) and if he recovers well from the injury.

But it's not like he has positive trade value, and he's certainly got some talent, so why not give him a chance?

He didn’t seem to take well to the microwave role the first try, what indicator have you seen that he’d react differently this time around?

I have two indicators:

1. He was quoted in an article about this being a humbling experience and being helpful to change his perspective. (paraphrasing of course)

2. Wishful thinking

It's worth giving Knight a chance before buying him out. If it doesn't work in training camp then he can be bought out. I don't understand why some people want him gone before even giving the next coaching regime a shot at rejuvenating his career. He's not a player who has a bad reputation around the league like Rondo or IT.

He has no trade value and it would cost the Suns 1st rounders to trade his contract away so the only option left is buying him out. There's really no harm in waiting to buying him out rather than doing so immediately.

I haven’t seen a lot (if any) calls to cut him, but I also see no reason for optimism and certainly hope he doesn’t factor into our decision making even a little.

I just can't see a buyout as a real possibility. He still has two more years on his contract at about 30 million. Also how would a buyout affect dead cap space?

The stretch provision. A team can spread the amount he's owed over twice the length remaining on his contract plus one year. So if he has 2 years and 30 million left they can stretch it and it will count against the cap for 5 years but only at 6 million a year instead of 2 years at 15 million per.

That's all I've seen, people wanting him to be bought out and sent away. That seems to be the default plan that people here mention regarding him going forward. I don't think anyone believes he could be traded without giving up future 1st's and there's no point in paying him 15 million a year to ride the pine as the 12th man.

My concern is putting a Point Guard who is a ball hog on the floor even as a backup on this team overloaded with young players. He just doesn't have the skill for it regardless of good or bad intentions.

The young guys (most of whom are inconsistent in their play) are going to develop bad habits standing around when Knight is their supposed skilled facilitator.

For that reason, if we are stuck with him, I'd rather see him at the end of the bench or bought out than on the court. Don't compound a mistake with an ongoing mistake. Lick the wounds and put the interest of the young players first. It is the Point Guard position we are talking about.

So, Knight can accept the bench role or he can rot on the bench. It's an easy conversation to have with him. Yeah, you wa.nt to be traded, your trade value right now is zero, so you better raise it off the bench.

My guess is he will be here all of next season and then gets traded as an expiring the season after. We just aren't going to be able to trade him prior to that and using the stretch provision on him at this point is pointless unless we absolutely need the extra cap space this summer.
