Rockets were close, D'Antoni took Capela out and went small. Warriors ended up having a layup drill. Signature D'Antoni.

Yeah I didn't get why he had Capela out. it's not like Tucker was playing well enough on offense, his defense was good but he had ONE point in 35 minutes. So the Warrios didn't have to guard him and he's not a rim protector like Capela. Gordon got hot late in the game but 15 points 6-13 in 34 minutes again not worth taking Capela out IMO.

as a UCLA fan hurts me to say it but also Luc's minutes were huge for the Rockets losing. They were -14 in 17 minutes, he missed 2 layups and 2 huge WIDE open 3's when the Warriors extended the lead. again they didn't have to guard him at all 0 points 0-6.

The alley oops to Capela were killing the Dubs and they should’ve kept feeding it down low.

The Warriors played a lot of Durant ISO ball, which was weird to me. But Durant was hitting everything over anybody attempting to guard him, so they got away with it. The box scores look quite similar. Durant and Thompson (and a decent Curry) and everyone else.
Harden and Paul and everyone else. Problem for Houston is Gordon has been terrible, or at least inefficient. So they are not getting a third strong scorer even though they are better defensively this year.
And then in his post-game presser D'Antoni says (in his smug demeanor) "we are not worried about KD". Fool.

What the hell is this "dubs" word? Warriors or douchebags, I can understand.

Everybody praises D'Antoni until he hits the wall in the playoffs and it looks like the wall he has to deal with now belongs to the Warriors. When he was here it was the Spurs, had he been able to get us past them then we'd probably have a banner but he's awful at making adjustments. He thinks they can keep going at them without changing anything and eventually the other team will break.

The wall he is hitting is a better version of his own philosophy. DAntoni had the right idea to begin with. But he is so stubborn he won't adjust to improve. Kerr does.

It was Steve Kerr that asked DAntoni to hire a defensive coach in the summer of 2008 and DAntoni quit and left town. Now Kerr is proving that he was right.

Giving him away wasn't the mistake (IMO). Between his on-court performance, his off-court problem and the towel incident, he had to go. Given the way we signed them though, I think it was a mistake for Ryan and/or Babby to not sit down with the twins in advance of the trade.
You have Marcus mixed with Markieff. Markieff threw the towel.

I have a clear memory of it being Marcus. Unfortunately, I'm having more and more clear memories that simply didn't happen. Oh well.

Although the Spurs and Warriors build very strong walls.

I think you could be excused in this case. After all, they kind of look like each other.

I suspect I've just combined incidents. It was probably Marcus getting into a yelling contest with Jeff that assisted the breakup process. And Markieff probably threw the towel the next season after he was already pissed about Marcus.

Boston up 2-0 against the Cavs. I can't see them winning more than 1 game against the Warriors if they can knock the Cavs out. It could be a dull NBA finals. Can't this season just fast forward, give the Warriors the trophy and move on to the draft?

I think people also vaslty overrate one game. Yes it was big to win on the road but it was still one game, I don't buy that Houston won't make some adjustments and make this a competitive series. They had an interesting formula in game 1 to keep attacking Curry, he clearly doesn't have his legs, and it was working. The problem was they had Capela out so much that the Warriors were able to attack the rim and score. In the first half when it seemed Capela played more, the Warriors only shot 3 FT's, combination of refs not calling fouls, and Capela taking away the paint. In the 2nd half with him sitting the Warriors got to the line much more. Houston was trying to run everyone off teh 3 and the Warriors, in particular Curry, got to the rim at will agains them. Simply playing Capela more should change that.

Its not the game. Its DAntoni's reaction to the game.

I’m listening to Cowherd rip D’Antoni for losing to a team that has...

- Two time MVP and the greatest shooter ever
- Another MVP who may be the second greatest shooter ever
- Arguably the third greatest shooter ever
- A DPOY
- Better role players on the wing than PJ Tucker and Trevor Ariza

It seems most of the talking heads are yapping about it. It's embarrassing that a team led by James Harden and a declining Chris Paul can't even beat a team that only has 5 (likely) future hall of famers out there along with strong role players. That has to be on Mike D.

I don't like the heavy iso game Houston is utilizing but that's been their M.O. all season. In game and between game Adjustments are one thing, completely changing your offensive identity is quite another.

It's probably true that they can't beat Golden State going iso all the time but the gap in talent is so great I can't think of a system they could excel at that would get them past the Warriors. Maybe thug ball, but that's about it.

The Rockets were the chosen ones! They were supposed to take down the Warriors, for everyone.

It's not that they lost to the Warriors. It's HOW they lost- the exact same way D'Antoni's Suns used to lose to the Spurs. It is fascinating that such a great basketball mind can be so stubborn as to make the exact same mistakes he used to make many years ago.

That's right. A one trick pony whose whole approach is a sprint rather than a marathon.
