First you have to ask who is in market for a new QB.

Teams that need one:
Browns, Yets, 49ers, Jaguars

Teams that need one if there goes or is traded:
Cards, Saints, Washington, Colts, Vikings

Teams that could go new QB:
Dolphins, Bengals, Titans, Chargers, Broncos

Some of this guys don't hit the market, so Garappolo, Palmer, Bradford or Bridgewater

Some have little chances, like Luck

And than we have
Cousins, Brees, McCarron, Bridgewater, Smith, Dalton
Draft: Darnold, Rudolph, Rosen, Falk, Jackson, Mayfield, Allen, Browning

Teams that need:
Browns, Yets, 49ers, Jaguars, Cards, Saints, Washington, Bengals, Dolphins?

14 QB to 9 targets, that should be easy ...

So as Cardinals we can look at, Darnold, Rudolph, Rosen, Mayfield, Browning, Jackson, Allen and maybe Luck

The rest .. isn't interesting.

What am I missing...why would Indy trade Luck?

Maybe Luck wants to be traded, maybe they end up with the #1 overall pick and a new GM and a new Coach want a non "broken" good. Who knows. They will get at least a #1 for luck or a LT that can protect the new QB ...

I would trade Valdaheer + 2nd for luck now if his shoulder is really not that ruined.

You would trade a terrible right tackle and a 2nd rd pick for a franchise QB?

I could see the saints keeping Drew and drafting his replacement.

Luck or Smith are the only vets I like if Palmer retires... but Smith is old and Luck has been pretty beat up.

would much rather draft a QB

I know Smith doesn't seem to have the rocket arm Arians loves, but he fits the mold of some of the Cardinals best quarterbacks of late (Warner, Palmer) guy well past 30 nearing the end of his career. The Chiefs traded way up to get Mahomes. I think that's the writing on the wall for Smith, and the Chiefs probably know they can still get a decent return in trade.

I have always liked smith.... I have no issues with him , just vet QB in general...any vey we sign who is worth his salt is going to cost us $25mil+ per year...
if we draft a guy we get 4-5 seasons at a fraction of that which we can turn into a few other top players... risky? yeah... but the only way we have a chance at a long term payoff

Can add Scooby as a sweetener if they aren't totally blown away already

so, amended, you want to trade broken down LT in the sunset of his career, a second round pick and an unproven (didn't make the starting team) linebacker with coverage questions for a 1st round, universally acclaimed QB pick who has been injured because that organisation hasn't yet addressed keeping him upright (O-line) and you think they will entertain THAT trade ? throw in PP and you might have something, there is nothing else we have they would want.... or maybe you mistyped and you meant trade all that for Brissett ? that would make sense (sort of)

if the chiefs remain unbeaten (even for a little while) they are more likely to trade Mahones for 2 1sts... wanna pay that ?

Smith will be 34 years old next year. Palmer was 33 years old for most of his first season with the Cards (he turned 34 in late December 2013).

right. my point is, I would like for us to get the guy who will be our QB for the next 12-15 years,..not just the next 3-4 years

Alex Smith has finally looked like a legit NFL QB this year. He's been playing great. Can't take that away from him.

K9 just fell off his chair :D.

However, if CP leaves, drafting a guy is the way to go.

Totally agree, it is shaping up to be a good qb draft.

Would love to sign Smith or Brees, but let's be honest, both of 'em are gonna get extensions. I think Cousins is our guy in the FA.

If they keep winning, they are more likely to keep Smith 1 more year (finish out his contract) and keep Mahomes developing. That is a luxury not very many teams have had. Last one I can remember was Favre/Rodgers and that turned out pretty well.

Because he can't stay healthy would be my #1 reason... They may have the #1 pick again in a deep QBOF draft...

No thank you. Dude is already the 5th highest paid QB in the league. He is going to demand Luck, Stafford, Carr money and IMO he is not in that tier.
Qbs who can ball are worth stupid money, there is a reason their salaries are so high. I would rather pay a ton of money to a proven QB who can play than draft a rookie and cross my fingers.
