Butler didn't seem to have the drive to succeed when he was with us. For one all his off season hype videos were about his life outside of football. For some guys, getting drafted is the goal. I think Butler felt like he made it just by being in the league and started to rest on his laurels. Kliff seems to be a laid back coach that wants players to be self starters rather constantly needing to be yelled at. It just wasn't a match. I'm sure he's working his butt off with the Eagles after being cut. He has the tools to make things happen it he puts in the work.

I didn't like drafting him. I watch Texas as my college team and Butler was always a complete non factor when we played Iowa State. All I remember are drops. His highlights are fun but its mostly him being covered and making the 50/50 ball vs. terrible DBs that he has an 8 inch height advantage against.

Not really having any insight into that I try to abstain from questioning work ethic. But I question what it might be (work ethic, lack of intelligence, no live for the game, poor influences, who knows).
There was a team-made video of him when he was here where they interviewed him about his house and interests and whatnot. It made it abundantly clear why he fell in the draft. No drive. Embarrassing priorities and reasoning for them. I’d never have wasted a pick on this kid but I think Kingsbury was bullish to have him. Shame on everyone who had a hand in it.
