Current depth chart illustrates our biggest current problem and an obvious solution:

Ketel Marte is listed as both the starting CF and starting 2B. He can't be both at once, which makes clear that we need to acquire one or the other.

The solution? Trade one of our superfluous starting pitchers (there are 7 listed here) for one. Candidates for that trade include Ray, Young, Gallen and Weaver.

Thought Castro would a nice fit and insurance at SS if Nick left after next season. He does come with some baggage of not always playing hard. Maybe they didn’t want to deal with that.

Interesting. One of the original reported targets for the Diamondbacks.

Wondering where they plan on spending the extra $11 million they saved with the back-loaded structure of the MadBum contract.

D-Backs MLB targets are dropping like flies. Is it possible that it was MadBum, and not the D-Backs, that wanted the MadBum contract to be back-loaded? From the D-Backs' perspective it makes zero sense to back-load that deal (thereby straining future payrolls) unless they were planning to spend the savings this year...

It's a minor league deal. EVERY team signs players like this to Minor League Deals - means absolutely nothing
