Reminder on finding and developing talent, they had Payton last year and then they had him all through camp this year, cut him, and then brought him back. They cut him and Avery Bradley and the word was they wanted to keep Bradley but the players told them they should keep Payton instead. they cut both the Lakers signed Bradley and the Warriors brought Payton back. I'm not sure why they had to cut him some procedural thing I assume.

Defensively he's like his dad you just can't dribble against him if you're not careful he's going to take it away, he got Melo twice last night that led to dunks. Had a great block last night too. He's not a good enough shooter to ever start but man he's fun. Iggy has adopted him you can tell Iggy just loves him.
I have watched a couple of their games and the announcer often says "Gary Payton II". I wonder if that is by request out of respect? Interestingly enough most young kids watching probably don't even know who Gary Payton was unless they are die hards. I was at a Suns game last year with my brother in law and this dad was telling his son about the Sonics, it's player's etc. The kid asked his dad who Shawn Kemp was. Man I am getting old.

Lebron is expected to miss at least a week with abdominal strain.

I suspect the team is going to be plagued with Bengay commercial reenactments through the season with their lineup.

Things are getting back to normal. The 76ers have resumed fining Ben Simmons.

Its kinda sad really. Depending on how much of it Really is mental. He was/is? a good player.

It's time for both parties to move on with their lives.

I'm guessing the 76ers haven't been offered anything near what they want for Simmons or a trade would have already happened.

There is a point of diminishing returns if this drags on too long.

One down 26 points and the other down 19 points.

oh my lord! i knew they lost again last night but didn't know it was another huge lead blown.

man i hope this shades of Kobe/Nash/Paul/Dwight team continues for the Lakers. that was a lot of bad fits, old age and injuries kicking in. this definitely has the potential for the same.

Gary Payton 2 the legend continues. Had a monster 2 handed jam on the break on a feed from Draymond and then he just caught a lob from Iggy and dunked it with ease. I realize it's the NBA and there's great dunkers all over the place but they list Payton at 6'3" and I don't think he's even that tall he looks shorter than Steph standing next to him. His arms go on forever and he reminds me of a smaller Stacy Augmon he's just plastic man.

The Warrior announcers are now also calling him "young Glove."

The Warriors have a knack for making players exciting. It's probably their style of play taking nothing away from the amazing dunks by Gary Payton II.

I thought his nickname was the "The Mitten." It doesn't have the same ring to it though.

I'm amazed the Warriors traded Eric Paschall to the Jazz for only a future second round pick.

That's cute. Do they play a little Sonny James or maybe Donny Osmond when he scores?

Young Glove, get outta my mind, my love for you is way outta line!

If you listen to the lyrics of "Young Girl" by Garry Puckett... wow... just how YOUNG is this girl he is singing about? It would not fly today.

Yeah if you listen to the music I grew up with from the 50's, 60's and 70's, much of it wouldn't be acceptable today. Here's a few that stand out to me:
You better run for your life if you can little girl, hide your head in the sand little girl, catch you with another man, that's the end, little girl.

Oh Johnny get angry, Johnny get mad. Give me the biggest lecture I ever had. I want a brave man, I want a cave man. Johnny show me that you care, really care for me.

Have a drink, have a drive, go out and see what you can find. If her daddy's rich take her out for a meal, if her daddy's poor just do what you feel.

1, 2, 3 red light don't stop me. Every time I try to prove I love you. 1, 2, 3 red light don't stop me. When I know I'm right don't stop me. Stop the game, you've got too much to lose. If you stop me again that's when we might end so please don't refuse.

If you want to be happy for the rest of your life never make a pretty woman your wife. So for my personal point of view get an ugly girl to marry you.

They say Little Melvin got wild on bathtub gin cuz it made him grow to almost twice his size. He'd try to take over and sass Big Mable and her great big fist would blacken Little Melvin's eyes.
Big Mable Murphy, she loved Little Melvin but he never did learn to do just what she said. Cuz poor Little Melvin woke up every morning with two black eyes and knuckle bumps on his head.

lol, I've heard quite a few of those. I think your 2nd, 3rd and 4th songs would still get air time today, but there would be controversy around those lyrics. 5th song, which I have heard countless times and maybe it desensitizes me how insensitive it is, I think would still work, if done by the right musician.

That 1st example though... good god, if that snuck in on an album that got any sort of steam, there would be hell to pay.

Yeah it's surprising how many beloved Beatles songs wouldn't be playable if they came out today. And I agree, I think the Jimmy Soul song probably survives today since a little latitude is given to novelty songs. But for me I think the Mungo Jerry song might have the toughest time getting airplay today. Here's a little bit more of the song:

In the summertime, when the weather is hot
You can stretch right up and touch the sky
When the weather's right
You got women, you got women on your mind
Have a drink, have a drive
Go out and see what you can find

If her daddy's rich, take her out for a meal
If her daddy's poor, just do what you feel
Speed along the lane
, do a turn or return to 25
When the sun goes down, you can make it
Make it good in a lay-by

We're no threat, people, we're not dirty, we're not mean
We love everybody, but we do as we please
When the weather's fine, we go fishing or go swimming in the sea
We're always happy, life's for living yeah that's our philosophy.

After I posted this he got another 1 hand tomahawk in traffic. I swear he's no bigger than 6'2" and he's probably 6'1"

The Warriors are playing so good right now.

I'm thinking they feel they can be a contender especially when they get Wiseman and Thompson back. There is no reason they can't. They have regained their swagger.

the big concern I have is age. Iggy is 37, Steph 32 Klay obviously coming off 2 major injuries, Draymond I think 30. If they can all stay relatively healthy they're good but if the older guys have some injuries its' a problem.

Nice depth, Poole 2nd straight big game, Porter is playing well etc.

Age shouldn't be a huge factor except for perhaps Iggy and they should be able to load manage him.

It's more about getting everyone healthy, keeping them healthy and peaking for the playoffs.

As you well know, it's a marathon. In the playoffs the Warriors will be dangerous if they have their key players.
