Interesting.

Who throws in extra assets? Harden looks like he is in rapid decline but might just be somewhat checked out in Brooklyn. Simmons is a loon who might quit on you at a moments notice and can't be trusted to even be on the court late in close games.

Pairing Simmons and Iriving would play out as high drama. Simmons as the solo star for home games until Durant will yield some hideous basketball, especially in the clutch.

I wonder if Daryl Morey envisioned James Harden as a fair return for Ben Simmons.

I bet there were better trades for Simmons earlier although perhaps not bigger names.

There will be a mad scramble for the bottom in the West.

Harden is on the downslope, it is quite obvious - but Simmons is worthless to Philly currently.

If I were them I would rather have gotten a package with Haliburton as the main piece, but I think they already lost that chance.

I’ve always thought even after kissing and making up that those two just don’t like each other.
Yeah, but nobody in their right mind would want Gobert and his contract with his inability to play playoff basketball.

So I think they are stuck, cause they aren't trading Mitchell.

I feel like Harden's totally sandbagging it in Brooklyn and will turn on the jets if he gets to Philly. If I'm Philly, I do the deal in a heartbeat. At least it's the trade with the most upside they're probably gonna get at this point.

I think he still regrets not pulling the trigger on the trade last year, so he probably sees this as a second chance. To me though Harden stock is a lot lower at this point so it isn't nearly as a good a deal as it seemed at that time.

Sandbagging it? How, Why?

He has had no lack of opportunity with all the games Durant and Kyrie have missed. He showed up out a shape, and could pull his hammy at any minute.

I just don't think he is the same player he used to be, and unlike CP3 he is too lazy to take care of his body despite age taking a toll on him.

agree with this, but we've also seen this Harden schtick before last year in Houston when he looked like complete dog-spit because he didn't want to be there and then looked great with the Nets until he was derailed with injury.

i think he's probably got one more turnaround left in him this season and the Sixers have to do SOMETHING not to completely waste an MVP year from Embiid.

Just watching him, there's no energy there. He did the same thing loafing and doing basically nothing in Houston. Maybe he knows what they're doing is pointless with Kyrie missing half the games and now looking at a bum wheeled Durant and wants out. Wouldn't be the first time he's just taken a dump on a team to force his way out.

Harden has also been effected by the rule changes to shooters. He's not getting to the line like he used to and that was such a big part of his game. He averaged 13.2 FT just 2 years back in Houston to 7 a game now. That with the lack of lift due to injuries and being out of shape has turned him into a 3rd banana. He can play the 2nd banana to an MVP like Embiid so it's not a bad move for Philly.

I don't see how Simmons fits in Brooklyn but if they can get him on the court and playing then they might be able to flip him again before his contract is up.

I'd think Brooklyn gets additional assets in case Simmons isn't ready to play.

If Harden gets his lazy ass in shape he’s a top-5 player but the dude looks like a right tackle. The way he dogged it in Houston to get out followed by this debacle is staining his legacy.

Looks like Portland is having a fire sale? Anything we need from them?

Harden is a few sandwiches away from being out of shape and out of the league.

The Nets just no-showed against the Jazz, Harden sat with a brand new minor injury, Kyrie looked like he didn't want to be there and they got bull dozed.

There is a lot of smoke to this Harden to the Sixers stuff, it went from something that might happen over the Summer to something that makes far too much sense to both teams for it not to happen right now.

A Sixers/Nets playoff series would be some high drama... and might end with Ben Simmons needing therapy and Kyrie Irving deciding the Earth is shaped like a cube.

Yeah a Harden for Simmons swap makes sense for both teams. It certainly makes the 76ers a tougher out, assuming Harden finally decides to get in top shape.

I know KD made his own bed here, but he’s so damn good that I kinda feel sorry he has to lie in it.

I’m not high on Simmons but that would be an unbelievable fit for his skillet, playing with two perimeter scorers and sharp shooters.

Also think Kyrie would be a better fit in Philly than Harden. Embiid is still going to dominate the ball and Kyrie is better off it than Harden. He can also play in home games which is kinda important lol.

Ayton, Smith and Saric would work. You know, if we wanted to do something stupid.

Or we could add Crowder to that mix and get back McCollum and Nurkic.

Not that I'd do that. I'm not a big fan of CJ and Nurkic seems perpetually injured at this point.

Luka is a generational talent but dude can barely do a postgame interview without sounding like he’s dying from exhaustion. If he took care of himself he’d be a perennial MVP candidate.

I think he even came out and admitted his conditioning is an issue... but I don't think it has changed much since then.

At least he isn't eating his way out of the league, Zion style.

There’s no excuse for athletes whose job is to be in great shape to not be top notch conditioned. He’s never been an elite athlete but he doesn’t move as well as he used to and he’s definitely significant heavier than his first couple years.
