Kings get Chris Duarte for two 2nd round picks. I'd say second round picks are proving valuable.

That's the primary value of second round picks in today's NBA, as low value trade assets. They're not worth much when you're talking about taking a player in the second round but they come in handy if you want to acquire someone like Duarte.

Chris went from being viewed as a key part of the Pacers future to being a disappointment almost overnight once the Pacers traded for Haliburton. Sacramento is hoping that he'll again play like the rookie who worked so well with Sabonis. But there isn't much of a market for him especially since he suffered injury after injury the past year. That's why the Kings got him for next to nothing.

The Suns didn't pretty well in the Bradley Beal trade using second round picks, although I'm aware there were extenuating circumstances.

There have been a lot more trades for second round picks since last season's trade deadline. Here is a list of some.

I don't know... they still seem like the thing that gets traded when a team doesn't want anything in return.

Duarte had a brutal season last year.

I don't evaluate a player based on just one season. I think Duarte has potential. We will find out soon enough.

Apparently, the Kings thought so as well.

Please, no Biz for the Lakers. Only a guess, but I think the Suns may be waiting for him to make up his mind.
Not sure on Biz coming back. You look at the all time shot block list and Biz is moving up the charts, and he has mostly always played back up minutes in the NBA!

No... the 76ers sign Montrezl Harrell. He was one of the players I was hoping might be available for the Suns.

Noah Levick @NoahLevick

yesterday

Montrezl Harrell is indeed returning to the Sixers on a one-year deal -- confirming @wojespn. Signing doesn't change the team's desire to bring back Paul Reed, per team source.

You know me, I like those deep roster players. The 76ers got Harrell for the vet minimum.
I like Harrell, but I like some of the guys we signed better. I get that he's a great end of the bench get. There's still some guys out there in play. We don't know the chess moves JJ has left!

I don't have any problems with the Suns guaranteed contracts. I like the moves.

Simply think another FC could add needed depth upfront if Biz doesn't return.

In almost every off-season since JJ has been GM, the Suns do their deals in a short span. I'm not holding out any hope JJ has another trick up his sleeve. Although acquiring a couple of 2nd rounders should make it a little easier to use our trade exception.

There will be a few moves soon when league offices open back up after the moratorium is over. I think we could try and find someone dumping a small salaried player that fits in the trade exception, $5.2m.

Looks like the Dame drama will continue for a while.

So he (or more likely his agent) are trying to create a de facto no trade clause. Portland will probably give in but they are fools to do so. IMO they should honor his request to not be traded anywhere other than Miami by keeping him. Go public with something like this "losing one of the all time great players is obviously going to hurt this franchise, taking back negative value for him will just set us back even further as we endeavor to build a winning team".
