Those deals are actually lower on my list of insanity.
Haliburton, he's got star stamped all over him, he was going to get the max and they are probably better doing that deal now than waiting a year and having to pay him far more if he hits the all-NBA qualification.
Ball... that one is a bit riskier. It reminds me of Kyler Murray... maybe don't give the injury prone guy with questionable advanced stats a massive deal while you still have quite a bit of club control remaining on the contract. His brother might not ever play again because of injuries and while you'd like to say it doesn't run in the family Lamelo's injury was one of the more confounding ones I've ever seen. He did a regular dribble move and broke his ankle. I've seen lots of non-contact ligament tears but to see a dude break his ankle without contact and doing little more than shifting his feet, that is a serious red flag.
