It just contains language so they can get the super max if they qualify, which requires an All NBA team for them. They're likely to be closer to $200m over 5 years than $250. It's like what SGA got from OKC and Ayton wanted but I believe only Luka qualified for in the end.

Those deals are actually lower on my list of insanity.

Haliburton, he's got star stamped all over him, he was going to get the max and they are probably better doing that deal now than waiting a year and having to pay him far more if he hits the all-NBA qualification.

Ball... that one is a bit riskier. It reminds me of Kyler Murray... maybe don't give the injury prone guy with questionable advanced stats a massive deal while you still have quite a bit of club control remaining on the contract. His brother might not ever play again because of injuries and while you'd like to say it doesn't run in the family Lamelo's injury was one of the more confounding ones I've ever seen. He did a regular dribble move and broke his ankle. I've seen lots of non-contact ligament tears but to see a dude break his ankle without contact and doing little more than shifting his feet, that is a serious red flag.

I've been around orthopedics for a while and to see an ankle break like that is just crazy.

Very disappointing career so far after all the hype coming out of HS. Had the ACL surgery before his year at Duke but never really showed why he was the #1 - #2 recruit depending on recruiting site back in 2017. Hasn't played in NBA in 2 years.

It's hard to believe Giles is only 25. He is probably well worth the look for a deep roster player on the vet minimum salary.

There has to be more to the story with him. He looked promising to me when he was on the Kings yet they dumped him. You would think he should have a roster spot somewhere.

A new provision on two-way contracts in the new CBA will informally be dubbed the “Harry Giles III rule,” which will allow NBA players who sit out an entire season not to have that year count toward the three-year maximum service for two-way eligibility. In the previous CBA, a player with less than four years of service was eligible to be signed on a two-way contract. Initially, those same parameters were set to go unchanged in the new CBA. Under the old guideline, Giles III wouldn’t have qualified for two-way status entering the 2023-24 season because he had technically been on an NBA roster for four seasons.
