If you guys watch the Nuggets game tonight, try to keep an eye on KAT as much as possible.

They gotta dump him in the off season, he is terrible as a PF. He has his warts as a center too, but is probably a net positive in most games, I don't think he gets there as a PF. I'm not sure where I'd rank him but I know he'd be pretty damn low. I have little doubt I can come up with 20 guys who are playing the position that I'd take over him in a heart beat.

He’s just so damn soft, he just has a lack of strength and power to finish plays.

Nick Nurse has been fired by Toronto. Really surprised he was there 5 years, doesn't seem like it was that long.

I think they underperformed after their title win.

Give him focused high end players and he wins.

That's not exactly a glowing endorsement. Most coaches can win when they have focused high end players. He's 169-139 since their title run, only having made it to the playoffs twice and out of the 1st round 1 time. He had a focused Kawhi playing for a max money deal in a destination of his own choosing also. Then when you look at how they've underachieved since and I'm not so sure he's an upgrade. They got outplayed in the play in game by Chicago after being up by 19 in the 3rd quarter.

I really don't know if he's better than Monty but he won it once, something Monty hasn't done. IMO he really caught some bad breaks after that championship. And having to play your home games in Florida for a whole season didn't help either.
I think he’s the anti-Monty. A guy who isn’t going to be a players coach but is supposed to be very creative X’s and O’s dude.

Apparently his team is mostly misfits from a personality perspective.

I think he's an assistant who lucked into a good situation. Don't get me wrong, he seems to be good at schemes and game planning but doesn't seem to be much of a manager.

he also rallied that team without Kawhi the next season to a 53-19 record and came within a Game 7 loss in the second round of the bubble of going back to the Eastern Conference Finals.

And had a solid bounce back year after 20/21 when the played in Tampa.

Monty can do that type of thing too. I do think we underestimate how important assistant coaches can be. We miss Willie Green.

I think it's the opposite of the player issue, we undervalue all our coaches until they're gone and then we usually end up in a worse spot.

Hopefully the grass starts getting greener under Ishbia because we know Sarver refused to pay for top level coaches, especially assistants.

Dallas made such an error in not keeping Brunson. Same with Indy and Sabonis.

It is so easy to miss the quality of players who are playing right under your nose on your own roster because you tend to get hyper critical.

Man. I get giving up Mikal for KD, but I sure wish we could have found a way to keep Cam.

That can be true but I don't believe that's the problem with the Brunson situation. They desperately wanted to keep him but his family was too connected to New York.

His father played for the Knicks a couple of times and had just been hired by them as an assistant coach. Jalen's first agent was Leon Rose (Knicks President) who is also reportedly his Godfather. And Leon's son is his current agent. They also wooed him at a time when it was against league rules and have subsequently lost a 2nd round pick for it.

Well, they also never tried to offer him an early extension. I think that came off as a slight.

Maybe but after how he was abused the previous postseason, can you really blame them? He really was more of a question mark than a star until last season.

Hey if Kevin Young gets hired away, I’d be ok with Nick Nurse as the lead assistant. I just don’t think he’ll be an assistant.

Nets are blowing a huge opportunity to get back in this series.

Yeah and they already blew one game. That incredibly stupid taunt at a critical juncture by Claxton, who already had one technical, has to be driving Vaughn insane.

Brunson was a surprise bloomer. Players should keep that in mind when they don't get contracts offered early.

He got significantly better each season. Not negotiating with him was questioned in real time. Cuban wanted cap space flexibility, he burned himself.

I think Indy parting with Sabonis was fine. They added an All-Star PG in return and they already had Myles Turner, who has played better since Sabonis has been gone. Halinurton for Sabonis, and the extra parts that changed hands, was a rare W for both sides as each got quality players who actually improved in their new environments.
