If a team holds the rights to fewer than 12 players, cap holds worth the rookie minimum salary are assigned to fill out the roster. So, even if a front office chooses to renounce its rights to all of its free agents and doesn’t have any players under contract, the team wouldn’t be able to fully clear its cap. An incomplete roster charge in 2022/23 projects to be worth $1,004,159, meaning a team without any guaranteed salary or any other cap holds would have closer to $110MM in cap room than $122MM.
The above is from this piece, explaining all varieties of cap holds. Only main difference is it says 12 above while it's 14 now since that's the minimum roster size under the new CBA.

As soon as they go over 12 guys that goes away. It's just a way to measure out potential salary. Also, luxury tax is not assessed until season end, because they know things can change.

This guy needs another college season, imho. If he can earn millions now, who am I to second guess? I still think he needs more development time.

His dad is worth $1.2 billion, he doesn't need millions from an NBA deal. He probably has millions from NIL deals as is. Money should be the last reason he goes to the NBA.

I cannot wrap my head around this scenario.

Drafting a non-prospect for the soul reason of praying to sign his 40 year old dad... unreal. A level of pathetic desperation without parallel.

If we draft him and DON'T sign LeBron, it will go down as one of the most idiotic and embarrassing transactions in NBA history.

If the Suns hoist a trophy, I sure as Hell don't want LaBron holding it. that would be pathetic with *** attached

"Pathetic Desperation"....That's exactly where we are if the current guys, with the new coach can't get it done.

If you get a backdoor commitment from Lebron to come here, it seems unlikely he'd back out. As a father I doubt he'd want to screw over his sons new boss/employer.

I seriously doubt packaging the 22 w/Little will return a difference maker.

Is there anyone projected at 22 who is likely to change the teams fortunes?

His dad certainly has a ton of cash but who wants to live off of daddy's money.

Just because Bronny may have a few million from his NIL deal he certainly will want and need more.

His entire worldview is different since he has a billionaire father. I really don't see him making a move for financial decisions since he hasn't ever needed to consider money at any point in his life.

If he was concerned about an NBA payday then he'd stay in school another year or two and build his stock up so he could get a lottery contract and be more of an impactful player from day 1, raising his chances of a second contract and getting a significant payday.

I like Daron Holmes. Could be a potential option with his upside to slide right into the starting lineup and help make it work better.

I think this whole Bronny to Phoenix thing is a distraction to keep the Lakers committed to drafting him or trading for his rights.

The bigs alone projected at 22cnd pick, I can't see us looking at Bronny. Unless James Jones is thinking this is our PG? Even then, there's guys on the board for PG I like better.

I think the primary reason Bronny is working out for the Suns is because the Lakers know James Jones and Mat Ishbia can be unpredictable.

There are really just three possibilities: Jones is helping out his buddy Lebron by feigning the Suns interest in Bronny to scare the Lakers into taking him, Lebron coming to the Suns if they get Bronny is a real thing, or that James Jones is an idiot and is convinced that somehow taking Bronny is legitimately a good move for the Suns.

I'll let you decide which of those is the most likely possibility.

I'm leaning number three. ;)

Although, if Lebron wants to win one more championship, coming to Phoenix is not so far fetched. LA is hiring a new coach to develop the younger talent on LA. Phoenix is a 30-40 minutes private jet flight to LA. CP3 proved you could be with family and play in LA. Lebron said he's not interested in playing back east. The only other place I could see him doing this vet minimum move if he leaves the Lakers, is the Clippers.

It's funny, all of a sudden we get on getting a G League team, to develop younger talent, and Bronny comes up as a possible draft pick? It's also funny how the fan base here in PHX isn't jumping on the Lebron train. Probably from the KD experience.

LeBron isn't leaving. He reportedly turned down a chance to go to the Warriors at the deadline last year. That keeps him in Cali, similar distance to LA, allows him to compete for a championship, and pays him more. He's not leaving the Lakers.

Anyone believing we are using this pick to draft someone is outta their mind imo. If the ownership and management is doubling down on this iteration of the team they are using the pick to trade for an established rotation player. The only other option is the bronny/Lebron insanity angle.
