Players will come if you pay them a good money regardless of situation. It might be an overpay, but I’m fine with that if it means bringing in good players. Especially considering it’s not even money. Hell, look at what Montez Sweat just did with Chicago. One of the main issues of bottoming out is that nobody wants to be a part of that experience, for obvious reasons. It may have been one of the issues in terms of acquiring decent players last offseason, but being just as bad/worse this season probably won't make it any easier to get good players, if that is the goal.
I think this is a wild assumption to make after not even a full year of this regime. Keim explored trades/FA for years. Look at what that got us? Yea, hopefully this regime has put a lot of eggs in drafting well. I honestly would’ve been real worried if Monti went crazy with trades/FA in just his first offseason with the organization. It seems we've put all of our eggs in the "draft well" bucket, instead of exploring trades/FA as ways to add talent. That's a very narrow path, and draft picks often take several years to develop. 4-5 year rebuilds just don't happen in the NFL because nobody has the patience, and so much can change year to year.
Also, who says rebuilds take 4-5 years?
Houston has also been as bad as us longer than we have. They were able to stock young premium talent over the years. Hell, they were just the current version of us 3 years ago.Look at what Houston did in FA - they were as bad as us, but thriving this year because they brought in legitimate NFL players.
I agree with you, but I’m not the person to tell that to. This should be intended for a couple others here.Bringing Kyler back and expecting him to turn this clown show into a winning team is a hell of a burden for a guy coming off of an ACL.
