Nah. People expected that to be a top 5 pick; if it ends up in the mid-teens or 20s Monti messed up.

Regardless of the player selected. They’re two different skill sets.
Lol the gm doesn't have the crystal ball
Almost everyone was sure the Texans were one of the worst teams
But nfl has shown us is so much unpredictable except the franchise we root for

Especially if Paris ends up becoming a stud, which looks very possible, and the pick next year ends up being a starter as well.

Not to mention Anderson isn’t exactly lighting up the stat sheet
Will Andersen is on pace for a whopping 3 sacks on the season on what appears to be an overall decent D…. Not the impact expected to this point considering his hype and draft status.

Nope. I was pretty high on him also.

Unless CJ Stroud is HOF or wins a SB with Texans, Monti did good on trade. It is unfortunate that Texans keep winning

I disagree.

Alternative:
Monti knew exactly what player he wanted and got that player while getting a load of draft picks. The alternative would be Paris at #3. As of now that looks like a hit with the best 1st round OT and Paris playing well.

Value wise.
Per draft value chart (flawed, but only tool we got).
Monti gave 1000 points and got 580 points in the 2nd rounder plus 2024 1st and 3rd. That is a 420 points minus for 2023.

For 2024. Even if you consider the 2nd rounder as a sunk cost because it was needed to secure Paris, anything better than #20 and above would still be a win in terms of theorictical value!

On top of that, the 2023 draft was rated as average. The 2024 draft is currently rated as a one of the best in recent years.

Again, Monti screwed up only if CJ Stroud is a superstar

Tier 1:
Panthers (Playing better, but looks like a lock for #1)

Tier 2:
Broncos (should be much better than their record shows, but looks to be falling apart)
Cardinals (Looks like a lock for this tier)
Giants (Looks like a lock for this tier)
Patriots (I cannot believe a Belichick team is in this tier)

Tier 3:
Bears (Another horrible game after two really good games)
Vikings (Playing okay, but results are not showing. Should beat anyone in tier 1&2)
Titans - (with Tannehill out, this team could be in trouble)
Texans (Lucky to get away with a win, but my gut feeling is that they cannot keep playing at the level shown in first 4 weeks)

My guess is still #3 & #9.

Current draft order.

Interesting.

That might buy Bellicheck another year. Can't believe that his seat is legit warming up.
His seat isn’t even lukewarm.
Bill will leave when he wants to.

I don’t agree with that but that’s how it is.
Kind of like Paterno at Penn St. They should’ve canned him long before the scandal but “he deserved the right to go out his own” thought prevailed.

I’ve never understood that mentality. Coaches have been well compensated for their winning. If the program is going downhill, that’s on them too.

Nothing is deserved.
