I mean I unverstand the motivation argument, but the guy is 21 years old so how is it a negative that he made a big jump at that age?Now do all his other years in college

his competition is a few dudes who were happy to be employed on 1 and 2 year deals. his production lead to him being drafted 16th overall. not sure what your hang-up is that you're going SO far out on a limb to write this guy off before he even wears a cardinals helmet
Like others I hope he is the second coming of Aaron Donald or at least Darnell Dockett.Best pass rushing DT in draft. Very happy with the pick and the potential of our defensive line!
couple few teams unexpectedly went offense
o-line went fast - 3 tackles and booker all gone by #12
this allowed atl (walker) and arizona (nolen) to go bpa - im half surprised because monti already fortified his defensive line - twice - but he didn't trade back - he may have listened to an offer but STILL went with nolen
If Monti was here for the whole Cardinals draft history, you would be making sense.Right the Cardinals draft history is unimpeachable.
They draft multiple impact players in round 1 every year and none of it should be questioned.
Most importantly, we should be patient because no rookie in the NFL ever makes an impact.

But you know you’re not making sense.

DT is probably one of the most difficult positions to grade and project. Any other position and it’s pretty easy to name 5-10 pro bowl caliber players. DT is Chris Jones and Quinnen Williams are the only consistent active DT’s that I can think of. Leonard Williams was a non-factor until the end of the year. I’m not including the Eagles DT’s yet. Let’s see if they’re still consistently killing it after a SB.
So much of their job is “are they in their gap? are they rushing the right lane?” Their assignment sometimes probably takes them out of the play that their teammate is supposed to make. Like clearing a lane for the MLB to come and make the tackle.
That said, effort and consistency is a must at this position over many others. I’m definitely concerned by what I’ve read and heard. I hope I’m wrong.
I don't have faith in Monti. I happen to think Nolen has pretty special talent. I have thought that all by myself long before he got on Monti's radar as I watch every Aggies game. Why would you have faith in Ossenfort after last years draft? He made multiple reaches and they all sucked
Who would you have rather taken? The most reasonable of opinions
which 3rd round blocking TE are you talking about - you have to be more specificA high second round player was never the bpa. Stop it
This is how we drafted a blocking TE in round 3

I have long been tired of subpar DLine players scraped up in late rounds, off of couches in Tempe and other teams cuts. Getting gashed. Opposing QBs who are still clean in the 4th qtr. I am happy to see us finally truly go for some dominance on the defensive line. Sure, with the Cardinals history it could all be nothing. But I am glad we took a shot at trying to create an elite NFL unit rather than sorting beans into equal piles like we typically have on the past. "Oh, we can't take another dlineman! We need a G or WR!"

The guy with 6 catches despite playing 30% of the snaps.
At the draft I put the over under at 20 and I got the thumbs down but I was hilariously over stating the impact
the fact that people are referencing AD, DD, and even Eric Swann goes to show how rare it is to find elite DT’s. AD is retired. DD hasn’t played in over a decade. Eric Swann? 1/2 the board probably wasn’t even born when he played. lol. EVERY team wishes for those dudes. What all of them had was a love for football and a NEED to dominate.Again you can't teach effort.
1st round you have to minimize risk. You can't bust.
2nd round you gamble on physicality over head.
That's how Dockett was there in round 2.
I think he's better than Mason Graham, who was taken 5th overall.
I feel bad for Chris Sanders. What ever happened I hope you can bounce back. Best of luck.
