If the price is right I would love to bring in either Deebo Samuel or Tyler Lockett. Both guys are getting cut and neither is completely washed. Perfect fits for cheap short contracts.

Lockett is still a fantastic 3 even at his age, but with JSN and DK he didn't get volume. He's too expensive for Seattle to keep but he will provide value to whoever scoops him up.

Samuel looked good until he went to the hospital for pneumonia, after that he didn't look right. Bad cases of pneumonia will mess up your lungs for at least a month even after you're healthy, I think he has a bounce back season wherever he goes next.
I think Lockett has passed his prime. He’s no longer capable of spreading the field. Samuel certainly can do that but the cost is high and it strengthens a team the Cards don’t want to help.

Any interest in Joey Bosa if he gets released? Also would he be a fit in our scheme? Appreciate he doesn’t have a great record with injuries.
Tough call! He’s still an impact player when healthy, but how often is that. At the right price he’s a consideration.

I want a Deebo type player but not Deebo. He’s hurt way too much often is comes off as a bit of a jerk. Would not fit this culture. We can also do better than Lockett.

Deebo Samuel can stretch the field?

The one who plays for the San Francisco 49ers? The one with a career ADoT of 6.4 yards?

Multi dimensional player that teams have to account for in a way that spreads the field.

I don't mind this at all. Will Fries is a good guard and a big upgrade on what we have had and Hump should be cheap and when fully healthy should be a good backup.
My guess is the Cardinals will try to talk Humphries into taking Beachum's role as a swing tackle. It would give them a cheaper option to fill in at RT depending on how long Jonah is out.

In his annual draft conference call with NFL reporters, @MoveTheSticks pinpointed three edge rushers the Arizona Cardinals could target at No. 47:
-Jack Sawyer (Ohio State)-
Landon Jackson (Arkansas)-
Princely Umanmielen (Ole Miss)

Jeremiah added the No. 47 pick is a "sweet spot" for edge rusher thanks to the surplus this draft.

The NFL salary cap will be between $277.5 million and $281.5 million for the 2025 season, rising as much as $26 million from last year.

The Arizona Cardinals project to have nearly $73 million in effective cap space, according to OverTheCap’s projection of a $279.5 million cap. Arizona is slated to have the fourth-most available among all teams, including second-most among NFC teams (Washington Commanders, $74.5 million).

The bump is great news for Cincinnati, which is hoping to sign receiver Tee Higgins to a long-term contract. It also means more money for Minnesota to re-sign quarterback Sam Darnold or Kansas City to bring back guard Trey Smith or Super Bowl champion Philadelphia to keep linebacker Zack Baun.

It’s also significant for teams projected to be over the cap when the new league year begins in March: Atlanta, Seattle, Buffalo and Cleveland. It might not be enough to save New Orleans, which is more than $50 million over the projected cap and by far in the worst shape heading into 2025.
Let's help NO out and take Cesar Ruiz. He had 1 penalty and 1 sack allowed all season! It'll help the Saint save about $10 million!

The reports on Humphries out of KC are really bad. He couldn’t beat out Thuney who really struggled to play tackle. I don’t think he’s as good as Beachum at this point.

He came back too early. I was super surprised he was considered healthy mid season after being hurt late last year.

Arizona Cardinals GM Monti Ossenfort when asked by @Bickley_Marotta about a Trey McBride contract extension:"He's everything we want in this program to be. We'll deal with his contract situation here as it comes up. ... Trey's a great person, Trey's a great player and Trey's a guy I want to be around our program for a long time."

The Cardinals aren't doing too bad in terms of dead money for 2025.
LT DJ Humphries - $6.9m
DE Cam Thomas - $230k
WR Tejhuan Palmer - $139k
CB Jaden Davis - $84k
DT Myles Murphy - $26k
LS Joe Shimko - $3k
Total- $7.4 million*This should be the last year that Humphries is on the books for Arizona

Finally, a number that was previously at unattractive levels.

Listening to Michael Bidwill on 98.7 FM just now and anyone thinking this team is going to be aggressive in FA should disavow themselves of that notion right now.

He immediately started talking about not being able to spend whatever it takes because of salary cap constraints, and that you often have to overpay in FA, then talked about building through the draft, then talked about how many guys were coming back off IR and how BJ Ojulari was going to be dominant.

But what was really just sad was hearing the radio guys just be utter wimps when asking the toughest question. They tried to lob a softball and saying is this the year where you can really go for it in FA now that the base is built and Michael responded what do you mean? They then stumbled for words when the obvious thing they wanted to and should have said was: Are you going to sit on 30 million of cap space again this year? Instead, they just backed down.

This is disturbing…
