The New Orleans Saints have been doing an exceptional amount of work this spring when it comes to meeting with 2025 NFL draft prospects. They have been going all around the nation meeting with players from essentially every position group in the span of a few months, and it was been intriguing to watch which players they visit with. Some players are being considered for their pick at No. 9, while others are considered more mid-to-late round prospects with whom they want to check in.
One of the players they met with most recently was Pittsburgh tight end Gavin Bartholomew, as was reported by Jerry DiPaola for Trib Total Media and confirmed by Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football. Saints tight ends coach Chase Haslett took Bartholomew to dinner the night before the Pittsburgh pro day, which occurred on March 26.
Bartholomew was one of the players invited to the NFL Scouting Combine, where he would only handle the speed drills, posting a 4.70-second 40-yard dash, and a 1.59-second 10-yard dash, which rank No. 4 and No. 8 at his position respectively this year. He completed the jumps and agility drills at his pro day for an impressive 8.87 Relative Athletic Score. But his production over the course of a four-year career has been solid but not spectacular.
In 2024, Bartholomew had 38 receptions for 322 yards (8.5 average), and four touchdowns, a stark contrast to his 326 yards on 18 receptions in 2023, or an 18.1 average. He is a player teams will be banking on heavily due to his athleticism and size, coming in at 6-foot-5, 264 pounds. He could be an interesting option for the Saints down the board as they look to fill the tight end room with quality depth.
