We have also added Jeremiah Byers OT from Fla St. 56 career starts in college at RT.

That puts us at 5, so 91 players on the roster. I forgot that we get a roster exemption for Bernhard Seikovits becuase of the international program he's on.

Harry, I always found your insights on a player very helpful. Could you please share your thoughts on Elijah Simmons? Thanks.
He’s another odd selection. While UDFA are often one skill players, you have to ask can we use that skill regularly. This guys skill is anchoring. He was the strongest guy on Tenn. but player less than 15 snaps a game. He is incredibly raw skill-wise. Injuries have repeatedly set him back. I don’t think they can teach him enough in one summer to even put him the Practice Squad. It’s true blockers can’t move him, but he can hardly move himself. He lacks quickness and agility. He has no pass rush technique at all. I think he’s willing, just not generally athletic.

I’m not trying to sound sarcastic, but you say lacks quickness? Am I crazy? Do I need new glasses because that tape shows him being quick as hell in my opinion…. I think that’s why many of us are shocked that a guy that Big can move that quickly

He’s another player who shows limited future, though there’s a few considerations. First, he played okay at UTEP, doing especially well as a run blocker. When he entered the portal, several teams pursued him. I should mention at this point that I believe Mike Norvell is a terrible coach. No I can’t explain the undefeated season, other than to say he had a brief run of quality recruiting. Once FSU landed him, Byers had a decent 2023 year and was named top offensive newcomer. Before the 2024 season something happened. In the Garnet & Gold game, he couldn’t block anyone. The season was just about as bad. He seemed to lose interest. The season quickly fell apart. I don’t know any top evaluator that felt he was a likely draft choice.

Aftet the draft the roster sits at 86 players, so only room for 4 UDFA. That link shows 4 now. We're most likely done unless we release someone.

Agree with some of this. Very low snap volume. Have to figure out how much was conditioning. Also no pass rush which matters way more in college. Kinda a Dan Williams style player. Where I disagree is his quickness and then he showed pretty strong. Again, he is a zero for pass rush, but he can get into blockers and hold his ground. He can win the leverage battle.

The only guy with a chance to make the roster is the WR. The rest have little chance barring a miracle.
