I don't think every player on the team has to be a three-point threat.

Diaw is a serious threat when shooting threes - if you are afraid of someone getting hurt.

With Diaw, I'm more concerned that he be able to hit the short jumper as part of the pick and roll. Considering how bad he is at three, perhaps D'Antoni could "Just say NO".
