In 1981 after a few good games the Cards get crushed by the Eagles 55-14 or something; I remember our 3rd string QB having to play safety because of injuries in the secondary. I'm a bit vague as it was the first time I used alcohol to get me through the game.
1998: Cowboys 35 Cardinals 28-I know you all remember this one. We were getting buried 28-0 in the 2nd quarter and 28-7 at the half and in the 3rd it was 35-14 but we score late in the 3rd and score another in the 4th to cut to 7 and were driving and IIRC on 4th down, Plummer throws to the enzdone for Moore and he is absolutely obliterated but the officials don't throw the flag and we lose the game.
Yea we would have won the East,at least there was a full page picture in Sports Illustrated confirming the crime.
Tune in next week for: "Tales from Cards games at the Old Veteran's Stadium (Philly-style)".

You and I can probably trade war stories.
Dec 15, 1985 Rams 46 Cards 14. 52052 attendance and I was one of maybe 10 Cards fans. Cards scored first and I started mouthing off. Barely escaped with my life
Then following that up the next season by losing to the Texans who eventually end up picking #1 in the next draft.
.
How ABOUT losing twice to those 4and9ers including blowing a 16 point lead in the 4th quarter for the 4and9ers only wins of the year. SF picks #1 next draft.
Then following that up the next season by losing to the Texans who eventually end up picking #1 in the next draft.
And not being satisfied losing to Oakland the next season who ends up with the #1 pick in the next draft.
However, the 9ers drafted Alex Smith and the Raiders JaMarcus Russell. So those drafts did them no good.
Ugh. Actually it was 52-10. We ended that season losing to the Eagles 38-0. Yes, we were outscored 90-10 by those Eagles. Not anything wrong with that Eagles team as they were the defending NFC champs. But that season, so up and down. We actually had an outside shot at the playoffs with 2 weeks to play. We were 7-7 but lost to the Giants and got stomped by the Eagles.
Here's a couple of heart wrenching losses:
1984: Cardinals 27 Redskins 29-We needed to win this game to win the division and make the playoffs. Lose and we're out. We were losing 23-7 at half time but we stormed out in the 3rd quarter to get a FG and a 75 yard bomb from Lomax to Green to bring us to within 6. Then we trade FG to make it 26-20 then in the 4th, Lomax hits Green to give us a 1 point lead. They march right back and kick a FG to make it 29-27 with very little time left. We drive to inside the 30 and since this was the day when you couldn't spike the ball, we had to hurry the FG team on to the field for I believe a 42 yard try and O'Donahue hits it good and it looks good but it slices just a bit left and we lose. We don't get that close again until '87.
1984: Cowboys 24 Cardinals 17-This was week 11 and if we won this game, the one above is moot. It was back and forth until the Pokes take a 24-17 lead. The Lomax hits Green on a bomb to seemingly tie the score but the officials throw a phantom offensive PI flag and we never recover. To be honest, weeks 10, 11, & 12 cost us the season.

The O'Donahue field goal try in the Redskin game was more like 52, so I don't blame that game on ODonahue, it was also very hurried with no timeouts left. I saw the ending of that game on Utube recently, brought back a lot of memories.
I can't pinpoint 3 games...but that entire 1997 season that left us with the 2nd pick in the '98 draft, that cost us the chance to pick number 1 overall to grab Peyton Manning...feel free to pick any 3 or 4 games out of that season for me.
We had the 3rd pick that year. Took Wadsworth
