Here's 2 really quickly:
1. Bears game. Only a Cardinal fan could endure that amazing debacle.
2. Chiefs 49, Cards 0. Watching McCown hit our left tackle in the head with a pass in his own end zone.

and for some reason, this one just epitomizes (to me) this thread:

Nov. 26, 2000. It's an ESPN Sunday Night Football game at home at SDS against the Giants. We're 3-8 and Jake Plummer is out. Dave Brown is our quarterback. Having Dave Brown as your quarterback is kind of like having Derek Anderson as your quarterback. As usual, the place was maybe half full. By the 4th quarter, it was nearly empty. I made my way down to the northwest corner of the endzone, about 10 rows off the field. The Cards had the ball near their own goal line in front of me and did diddily squat and had to punt.

They were down 31-7. I distinctly remember myself and about four other people in the entire SECTION. Everybody was booing and yelling. We were screaming "you suck!" to the players only 50 feet away. Everybody was frustrated. We sucked. The negativity of that moment and the "same old Cardinals" feeling was the worst ever for me. It was a strong feeling of "we're always gonna suck and we're never ever ever ever going to be good."

Thank the Good Lord in Heaven for 2008 and 2009. A broken clock is still right twice a day.

Worst game I've seen until Sunday was the 2006 Cowboys game. The team simply quit in that one. Worst effort I've seen from a Cardinals team in a long time. A lot of these other debacles came as a result of a lack of talent or key injuries. That 2006 team didn't even try in that game.

The really amazing thing is that after that miserable performance the team rallied and finished with 4 wins in their next 7 games.

Maybe they got word that Green was done after the Cowboy game and that inspired them. :D

1989 Denver is here and they are winning 37-0 near the end of game and has the ball in the red zone. The Bronko fans start a chant We want a touchdown or something like that. I've hated the Bronkos and their fans ever since.

In 1981 after a few good games the Cards get crushed by the Eagles 55-14 or something; I remember our 3rd string QB having to play safety because of injuries in the secondary. I'm a bit vague as it was the first time I used alcohol to get me through the game.

Ugh. Actually it was 52-10. We ended that season losing to the Eagles 38-0. Yes, we were outscored 90-10 by those Eagles. Not anything wrong with that Eagles team as they were the defending NFC champs. But that season, so up and down. We actually had an outside shot at the playoffs with 2 weeks to play. We were 7-7 but lost to the Giants and got stomped by the Eagles.

Here's a couple of heart wrenching losses:

1984: Cardinals 27 Redskins 29-We needed to win this game to win the division and make the playoffs. Lose and we're out. We were losing 23-7 at half time but we stormed out in the 3rd quarter to get a FG and a 75 yard bomb from Lomax to Green to bring us to within 6. Then we trade FG to make it 26-20 then in the 4th, Lomax hits Green to give us a 1 point lead. They march right back and kick a FG to make it 29-27 with very little time left. We drive to inside the 30 and since this was the day when you couldn't spike the ball, we had to hurry the FG team on to the field for I believe a 42 yard try and O'Donahue hits it good and it looks good but it slices just a bit left and we lose. We don't get that close again until '87.

1984: Cowboys 24 Cardinals 17-This was week 11 and if we won this game, the one above is moot. It was back and forth until the Pokes take a 24-17 lead. The Lomax hits Green on a bomb to seemingly tie the score but the officials throw a phantom offensive PI flag and we never recover. To be honest, weeks 10, 11, & 12 cost us the season.

1998: Cowboys 35 Cardinals 28-I know you all remember this one. We were getting buried 28-0 in the 2nd quarter and 28-7 at the half and in the 3rd it was 35-14 but we score late in the 3rd and score another in the 4th to cut to 7 and were driving and IIRC on 4th down, Plummer throws to the enzdone for Moore and he is absolutely obliterated but the officials don't throw the flag and we lose the game.

Yea we would have won the East,at least there was a full page picture in Sports Illustrated confirming the crime.

And, I told the ****** Cowboys fan next to me we would get revenge in the playoffs. He laughed, but then we actually did!

Some of the games referenced on this thread show the mean age of the posters on this board :D

First off, in my rather young age (neener neener neener :p) I have a winning record when attending games, even at SDS. But the worst games I've ever witnessed (live or on TV) are:

1) Bears 2006 MNF debacle - needs little explanation, except I felt Leinart led us to redemption only to watch Rackers snap hook a relatively easy FG. Had he nailed that, I would have been fine with the outcome. The subsequent event was an extended losing streak.

2) 49ers 2004 @ home - I went to this game with my dad who was suffering from severe back pain and insisted we leave midway through the third quarter. Even though we were getting slaughtered by the hapless Dennis Erickson squad, I felt a comeback brewing. Suffice to say, we were almost there and a Joe Nedney FG in OT sealed our fate. The season outcome was being the victim of two losses to a team who won two games all season. Take those two games and we're an 8-8 team that year.

3) Pats 2008 - I understand losses, but when a team just looks lifeless and defeated before taking the field, it just floors me. The talk from everyone was about how they were going to play in the snow (first game the Cards played in this weather since the 80s). This tells me the team did not have both eyes on the football field, meaning they lacked focus and discipline. Warner looked horrendous and the defense just allowed Cassel and the Pats offense to go all world on our defense. Nice to see a strike from Leinart to Fitz for a 70 yard TD kept us from posting a doughnut on the board. Afterward, i posted on here a poll asking if we were going to see a double digit win total in one season ever. Luckily, we got one the next season.

Im sure we'll see one or two more of these games this season. Ugh :bang:

Tune in next week for: "Tales from Cards games at the Old Veteran's Stadium (Philly-style)".

..but still

#damnilovethisteam
#Cardsfansinnjunite

You and I can probably trade war stories.

You can put me in that category as well.

There have been a lot of disappointments over the years, but I think one of the worst for me was the Pats-Cards game at SDS in, I believe, 1999. I was so excited to finally be seeing my team play in their home stadium with other Cards fans! Little did I know that half the stadium would be filled with Pats fans.

We let Bledsoe throw for what seemed like a million yards. We didn't score until the very end when we finally got a field goal. Jake wasn't playing because that was the season he broke his fingers after a sack when he got his hand caught in a defensive players helmet.

Still enjoyed my trip to AZ that year, but, man, I was disappointed after that game.

read through some but last years divisional 2009 playoff game was the tops for me. I'm judging by broken objects in the house and neighborhood.

6 minutes left in the 3rd quarter and we folded like a dollar bill against the saints. We have yet to recover our identity or our esteem. The Bean had 2 carries to that point after leading us to a 3 score lead in the first half the week before against GB.

Monday Night Meltdown comes in 2nd only because it was a regular season game.

Larry Centers still diggin for inches while Buddy Ryan and staff left the field. That still pisses me off.

How ABOUT losing twice to those 4and9ers including blowing a 16 point lead in the 4th quarter for the 4and9ers only wins of the year. SF picks #1 next draft.

Then following that up the next season by losing to the Texans who eventually end up picking #1 in the next draft.

And not being satisfied losing to Oakland the next season who ends up with the #1 pick in the next draft.

However, the 9ers drafted Alex Smith and the Raiders JaMarcus Russell. So those drafts did them no good.

Who cares who they drafted? The point is that the Cards went 0-4 against the worst teams in the NFL over a three year period. That's ridiculous.

Just like when they gave the Jets their only win in a 1-15 season. Or Tampa their first ever home victory. Stupid Cardinals.

But then it did get us CKW who didn't lose a single game to a team that ended 2009 with a losing record last season. So I guess it all worked out ok.

The O'Donahue field goal try in the Redskin game was more like 52, so I don't blame that game on ODonahue, it was also very hurried with no timeouts left. I saw the ending of that game on Utube recently, brought back a lot of memories.

Actually, his missed extra point in week 1 to lose by 1 to the Pack cost us the division.

I can't pinpoint 3 games...but that entire 1997 season that left us with the 2nd pick in the '98 draft, that cost us the chance to pick number 1 overall to grab Peyton Manning...feel free to pick any 3 or 4 games out of that season for me.

Here's a random one. How about the Saints game were Randal Hill couldn't be stopped all of a sudden, and everytime he caught a big pass, he'd lift up his shirt and show the superman logo underneath. I hated his guts after that game. The Tito Paul Vikings game where he cried after getting smoked by Chris Carter all day is also another random L. I gotta million of em.

We ended up with the second overall pick that year and ended up trading down one spot with San Diego. The Chargers gave the Cardinals a 1999 first-round pick, a 1998 second-round pick and veteran players Eric Metcalf and Patrick Sapp to go up one spot, to the No. 2 pick in the draft.
