49ers Aldon Smith Back At It Again

Harbaugh had much of the Whiz type luck there. He came into a good team instilled with discipline by Singletary, took them to a SB and then fell apart

He inherited a good defense and built a good offense. He's apparently a control freak which is causing issues now personality wise but he's still a great coach.

It worked in college because he had the kids for 4 years and at Stanford he had a certain type of kid. IN the NFL you have to have better athletes but that often means you're dealing with guys who simply don't want to tolerate a guy like Harbaugh for too long.

He's been pretty successful there, if they changed coaches my guess is they'd find out the hard way how good he actually is.

Yup. At Grantland Bill Barnwell did a little column about the best contracts in football, and Harbaugh was #1. For the kind of value he adds to a franchise, you almost cannot pay him enough.

They have a ton of talent stockpiled on that roster right now, not only from this year's draft, but from last year's when they redshirted a ton of good prospects who needed rehab.

It's possible that San Francisco gets tired of him and ships him off the way the Cowboys did with Jimmy Johnson.

I'm guessing that undiscipled play (a la the Detroit Lions) is far more important than undisciplined lifestyle (really, who gives a flip).

Whiz built a successful O with Warner too. He was just awful at developing players. Harbaugh sucks at keeping his guys disciplined. He seems to not be able to even keep himself disciplined. Most of the team is still carryovers from Singletary. I'll be curious to see how it all plays out when he has to build the team. That will really be what shows if he's like whiz in having the capability to win, but not build a winner himself

The 24-year-old Smith entered his pleas in a Santa Clara County Superior Courtroom in San Jose. He faces a sentence ranging from spending no time in custody to a maximum of four years and four months behind bars at a judge's discretion, prosecutors said.

Smith is scheduled to be sentenced on July 25 — two days after the 49ers are to open training camp in Santa Clara.

Hmm I wonder which of those two options it will wind up being closer to. If he actually serves time (as any normal person would for these charges) I will be shocked.

IMO the NFL just need to start suspending these guys for seasons at a time (without pay) building up to lifetime bans. Send a message already man. I mean everytime we read a story about ANOTHER athlete getting a DUI do people realize how lucky we are that we're not reading a different headline like; "(insert name here) kills innocent family while driving DUI."

That goes for Dwash, Ray Rice, any of them it's not just because he's a 49er. I mean I love Dwash as much as anyone and more importantly, our team NEEDS him but aren't fans sick of this crap already? Yes pro athletes are just people and people make mistakes but once you're on your 2nd 3rd 4th strike there has to be a line drawn somewhere and certain things, like domestic violence, should be harshly punished on the first offense.

I mean what's the NFL's message here? We'll suspend ya for 4 games or more for smoking pot or doing PDE's but beating up a woman or driving DUI rarely earns a suspension. How ridiculous is that?

gun charges in CA... a normal person would get all 52 months. But he's learned his lesson I'm sure and he won't get in anymore trouble if they just give him probation

nobody knows the circumstances of Washington's domestic violence incident, so that's extremely hard to speak on. Unless you requested a copy of the police report. From what I've seen from the guy, I find it very hard to believe he would just beat up his ex-girlfriend. I do agree though, the NFL should have their own investigation, their own hearing, and their own punishment

Different states don't necessarily have the same verbiage/meaning. In Arizona, you can be charged with more than one dui stemming from the same stop. For example dui 08+ and extreme dui (.15+). If you blow a .17, for example . So, you have two, maybe even three dui charges from the same stop.

Id take Dwashs brief altercation, admittance of a problem and resolve he took vs aldon smiths straight up lunacy, multiple DUIs and consistant problems over a long amount of time.
