No surprise, many in the Bay Area really want him to take the job. He is smart, very competitive and runs an NFL offense. IMO he will be an excellent coach.

They will hire a high profile or bigtime coach guaranteed.

If they somehow get Harbaugh I will bet they try everything in the book to trade up & select Luck.

Luck being in our division would be a nightmare. It's bad enough that Bradford is in our division.

Harbaugh to SF would be our biggest nightmare. If Harbaugh leaves, my guess is Luck will go to the draft. SF is in a pretty good position to dump draft picks and defensive talent to get the #1 spot to reunite Luck and Harbaugh. I can realistically see them convincing carolina to give up the #1 for most or all of their picks in the draft to take luck. York is desperate to prove he can turn the franchise around at this point.

For those that think Harbough to 49ers would be bad for us and that Luck in the draft would be good for our draft prospects then Schefter has good news for you. Straight from his last podcast.

"belief is Jim Harbaugh won't return to Stanford and smart people believe Michigan is favorite but NFL in play."

I'd be more worried about Newton ending up in SF. Their offensive line should be really good and Newton will be the best QB in the draft and might be available when they draft.

Not gonna happen.

He's too hot a commodity for such a Mickey Mouse Operation.

My guess is they hire Marty Morehenwieg and try to make a play for Kolb.

Turns out Jed York is just as much of a obstacle as his father was, just for different reasons.

bingo

Who fires a coach with one game left in the season? All it does is make any decent candidate for headcoach ask himself "Is this the owner I want to work for?"

The same type of guy that fires his starting QB just before the start of the season with no viable backup plan.

Who would want to work for him either??:)

.

thats a false equivalence

coaches choose between players every week. Its not like Leinart proved anything.

as bad a Singletary might have been, firing him with a week to go simply to do it shows the owner to be impulsive and maybe a little spiteful.

What is the track record of college coaches who move to the NFL?
Jimmy Johnson and Barry Switzer were pretty successful in Dallas. Bud Wilkenson was a flop with the Cards. Spurrier was a flop in Washington. Holtz was a flop in NY. Ross did OK with San Diego. But I would say there's been more bad than good.

with the beating michigan took today, my money is on harbaugh to ann arbor

I agree with you. Michigan took another pounding & their alumni are screaming bloody murder. Firing their DC alone will not be enough. I can't imagine that Harbaugh could turn down his alma mater. Michigan is in dire straits & Harbaugh knows it. Harbaugh will have that team in the top 10 inside of 3 years, maybe 2.
