It only helps the Cards if they take advantage of it this Sunday. The 9ers could start 0-4 and still end up winning this division if the Cards don't start playing better.

I just can't see the Niners losing to the Chiefs even in Arrowhead. Their QB play is almost as bad as ours even though they can run the rock. I think the Niners control them defensively & test the Chiefs less than stellar defense.

This is why I dont fear the 9ers. They will find ways to lose ball games with coaching and Alex Smith. They have had multiple communication blunders, which has cost them timeouts.

I think today's "moral victory" was mainly due to it being a home opener, MNF and the retiring of Jerry Rice's number. Any other day, this is a 3+ possession blowout.

You know I agree with that. I think the home game and so much hype...I think now everyone will jump on the 49ers now too. But they were blown out last week....and At Kansas City...they can easily lose there.

No one thought they would get blown at Seattle...Anything on the road is possible in the nfl.

uhm yeah...alex tied the game up at 22-22. The defense let them down.

Home opener,Monday night, coming off a blowout loss, defending SB champs in town, tumultuous week, that was the Niners A game and they still lost. They may win in KC but expect a huge letdown.

I didnt say they lost this game because of that (although having a timeout to ice the kicker in that wind would have helped). The overall body of work tells me they arent winners. Smith isnt a world beater and Singletary is arguably the worst coach in the division.

As I said, a lot of this close game had to do with the home opener, Rice # retirement and MNF. It was theirs to win and the blew it.

or you could say the Saints defense let them down. Letting an Alex Smith led team go for a TD in about 40 seconds is very Clancy Pendergast-esque.

and we have the worst QB in the division at the most critical spot on an NFL team

And they have the worst coach in the most critical spot on the coaching staff. Smith is better than DA, but not enough to lead the team out of mediocrity. Additionally, they proved last season and now that theyll find ways to lose ball games. Pure and simple.

Lets revisit this post come January. IMO there is now way the Cards get to the playoffs with DA as their starting QB.

true.
I'm really impressed how the offensive line played for the 49ers....no sacks allowed from a blitz happy defense

Deal ;).

But as I implied earlier. The Cards are not making the playoffs and I dont think the 49ers will either. I think the Seahags are the favorites.

I was pretty impressed with the 49ers tonight. I think it would be dangerous for teams to underestimate them. They got cocky and arrogant and got caught with their pants down in week one. Like I said I think they came out tonight and wanted to send a message and I think they did. I also think Alex Smith is going to have a good year this year. They should have won tonight. I'll tell you what if I'm
a 9ers fan I'd feel a lot more comfortable at 0-2 than being a Cards fan at 1-1. At least the 9ers gave their fans something to cheer for and something to build on. I don't know what the hell we have in this Cardinals team but it's certainly not giving me a warm fuzzy.

I said something very similar in another thread that the Cards are closer to being 0-2 than 1-1. We would be 0-2 if not for the hustle & play of Stevie B, no doubt in my mind.

Everyone said that last year when the 49ers should have beat the Vikings in week 2. The fact is, they did a faceplant into the dirt and they're 0-2.

damn Kurt Warner for retiring and damn this FO for doing NOTHING to replace him (and yes, I call adding Derek Anderson nothing.) This division is so damn ripe for the taking and we just sat back, horded millions and hoped trash (Leinart) or garbage (Anderson) could squeeze out another title. yuck.

Personally I feel the 49ers showed tonite they are way ahead of where we are at the moment. I have seen nothing against the Falcons or the horrible Rams to think that this team is anything more than a 6 win team even with the easiest schedule in the NFL.

Seriously not happy with the whole QB thing

Yeah, but the Seahawks got their doors blown off Sunday as well. In the West only the Rams don't have a blowout as part of their 2010 resume.
