I think that saying that Kevin Kolb "earned" his money is a little bit of an overstatement.

Maybe Stewart Bradley should be on this list, too.

lol @ kolb being the only individual without a dime of endorsement revenue. That basically solidifies my opinion that he's garbage. Apparently every company in the world feels the same way also -- good stuff!

I'm shocked at Fitz's endorsement number. He's got Nike and they're using him for commercials during the Olympics. I'd have though it would be a ton more.

I'd like to know how old those estimates are.

Not to mention the Madden promos, and UoP, he does a segment with Westwood One for the pre-game on MNF.

Vitamin Water, AT&T, Desert Schools Credit Union.....

That number is either a huge under-estimate or he needs someone new writing his endorsement deals.

How much money do you think an athlete gets for an endorsement? How much work do you think that Fitz has to do for Desert Schools or AT&T? A handful of corporate meet-and-greets a year and some voiceover work? I think that $20K for maybe 50 hours of Fitz's time over the course of a year is pretty solid.

Contrast that to what Mickelson makes off of endorsements.

Think of the money Fitz could make if he slapped a company logo on his helmet.

That, and a lot of people are going to buy the things that Mickelson and LeBron endorse. How long does a golf ball last? For me, about 45 minutes. How much does a set of Titleists cost? $500? $1000? There are some types (like Dockett) who are going to by all three or four versions of LeBron's $125 (or more) shoe.

What can a football player endorse? A specialty beverage? Some cleats? Who here has bought a pair of football cleats for themselves or a family member in the last 12 months?

Bite your tongue! Pro Golfers are starting to look like NASCAR Drivers. God help us if that starts in football. :D remember the hilarious thread about sponsoring parts of the field?

Anyone who does an endorsement (who has a brain in his head and signs a decent contract) is not paid for the time it takes him to make the commercial. They're paid for how much money the company thinks the endorsement will bring in.

If he goes on the rubber chicken motivational speech circuit after he retires Fitz will be able to ask $20K for a speech. More if he gets a ring. Easily.

That big-headed QB the Broncos signed makes bank because America sees him as the guy-next-door doofus who uses a Master Card.

And the guy next door Broncos QB endorses stuff that sells for $1500 a pop. What do you think an endorsement by Fitz is going to bring Vitamin Water? Do you really think that they're going to see $100K in return for Fitz's name? I've never seen an ad for VW with Fitz on it.

It's these kinds of endorsement deals for Fitz, or nothing. Obviously, if you believe in capitalism, you believe that the market has the going rate for a wide receiver who was on a team that was 13-19 the last two years.

I'll add 2 things -

1) If Fitz finds himself hosting Saturday Night Live, I'm going to guess that his endorsement income is going to skyrocket. The difference between Fitz and Peyton is that Peyton Manning transcends sports. My grandmother knew who Peyton Manning was. Fitz embodies sports, but doesn't transcend them in the same way.

2) Brian Billick is listed at $25-40K for a keynote address by the National Speakers Bureau, as a guy who authored one book, was prominently featured in another, currently takes the airwaves every week as an announcer, and whose job it was to motivate a group of players week after week. And he won a Super Bowl.

I think that unless it's a Fantasy Football Players' Convention, Fitz is getting $20K to speak for 25 minutes.

I don't think you're seeing Larry The Brand.

Larry's value has grown beyond him being a Cardinal. He's all-American in looks (the dreads are a hook, not a hindrance), women love him, he's wholesome, he's middle-America, his work ethic is exactly what America admires, he's patriotic, he supports our troops.

It's more than just ads now. It's Twitter. It's Larry holding a bottle of VW on the red carpet. (Which I saw him doing three years ago. He was holding the bottle so the label didn't face the cameras. I remember thinking, "You'll learn.")

I still think $500K is low. And if VW signed him for peanuts and the Cards start winning they'll be fist-bumping in the Marketing department.

That's the potential that Larry has, but I don't think a non-football fan in Carolina or Alabama knows or cares who Fitz is. @LarryFitzgerald has 1.3 million followers. Bill Simmons has 1.7 million. Who cares? LeBron has 5.4 million followers. Tiger Woods has 2.4 million and he never posts on there.

As someone who's in marketing, I'd love to align my brand with Larry Fitzgerald, but I'm not going to pretend that Larry's going to deliver me eyeballs that I'm not going to find somewhere else.

Larry "endorsing" with Vitamin Water and AT&T is as much about him getting promoted as it is the products' profile being raised.

Mickelson makes a lot off of non-golf related sponsers. They want their name on his hat or shirt. That way everytime he is shown on TV their brand is right there.

Think of it, Fitz with Allstate on his helmet. The whole your in good hands thing. He could make millions!

Of course it would look like Nascar as Duckjake points out which would really suck.

And the thing with Mickelson is that you identify the brand with his face, and so when you see Mickelson in an ad for Cadillac or whatever, you're also thinking of Titleist, and vice versa.

Football players are problematic because they wear the helmet and the NFL is (rightly IMO) concerned about maintaining brand superiority and exclusivity. Honestly, Fitz could wear an Allstate symbol instead of a Cardinal on his helmet and 40% of the viewers wouldn't know whether they were looking at him or Early Doucet.

Big difference between football and all other sports, and problematic for endorsements.

That's why I hated losing Leinart. Everybody knew who Matt Leinart was. Football fans and Opera Fans. Didn't matter. Whenever they saw me the first thing they'd ask is how is Leinart doing. It is surprising how many people know you are a die hard Football Cardinal fan. I've been a St.Louis Baseball fan for just as long and just as die hard but nobody recognizes it. They all know I love Cardinal Football though.

Some of the endorsement numbers I have seen for Tiger Woods are from another planet. Even in his heyday he may have been making more on endorsements than the many millions he earned on the tour. Of course a lot of that went away when he backed out of his driveway while drunk.

Seems like I am seeing LeBron every time I turn on TV. I would think he earns a few bucks.
