If the Celtics wanted to dump Ricky Davis, and the Suns don't get Finley, then that would be an option. But probably Boston wants to keep him.

The ballsy move would be to go after Eddy Curry. The Suns would have to be willing to give him a long contract, but it's starting to look like no one else has the stones to do that. Chicago would probably be satsfied with one good pick, one poor pick, and the exception.

Antonio McDyess?

If Finley goes to Miami, they might give up James Posey.

Possibly Shane Battier, as mentioned before.

Brian Skinner!

The concept is that the Suns make two trades. First is a straight JJ for two picks. Second is to use the Voskuhl trade exception for Diaw.

If this is done, then the Suns end up with something on the order of a $6.5 million trade exemption rather than just a $4.9 they are currently getting.

Why do the Hawks do it? Why not? Makes no difference to them. But for the Suns, there is a much more attractive group of players making above $6 million than below $5 million.
