That's how many our "Shutdown" Corner has allowed in12 games!

Shutdown as in he's shutdown mentally for a lot of plays this year.

It's becoming pretty apparent that PP was more concerned with being paid more than Sherman, as opposed to actually being worth more.

I always wonder why the media go on and on about Peterson being a 'shutdown' corner he plainly isn't. he's been pretty much murdered by most of the elite WRs in the league. he causes no fear in QBs who are happy to throw his way confident of a completion and plenty of YAC or a PI

Patrick Peterson feels he lost game for Cardinals

“I feel that I lost this game for my team because I feel I didn’t play a good ball game today,” Peterson said, via ESPN.com. “I believe if he didn’t have those yards that he did have, the score [would] be a little bit different. The guys tell me it’s a team loss but I still put this loss on my shoulders. That’s just the way I am.”

“You better watch out when you call people out,” Arians said. “You better be ready to play. If you’re going to call them out, call them out but don’t give up [10] and a career day.”

Love PP the man... The player? I am having serious doubts about his "elite/shutdown" corner title. Not sure what it is with him this year, but I swear if I didn't know any better, I would say that for long periods of games, he just seems totally disinterested... Strange...

He's one of the better CB's in the league. The 'shutdown' thing is a game to game occurrence. Hard to keep the stats down when you're on the field 58 minutes per game.

Yesterday was just weird that play on the key 3rd down where they threw a very short lateral pass to Julio Jones who easily got the first because PP was lookign away. I assumed he was thinking the ball was going to the other WR and he was trying to jump the route, but just completely careless play there he wasn't even looking at his man.

Terrible game for him. That's the problem in our defense if you're a CB and you're having a bad day it's going to be VERY obvious because the CB's have to cover m2m so much.

Peterson needs to shut his mouth and get his head in the game. It's ALL mental with him. He CAN be the shutdown corner that's best in the league. He's shown it this season. When he screws with his own head by being a complete asshat, he throws off his mental game. Every time he runs his mouth, BA should bench him the first series of the game. That'll end real quick.

PP is almost never ready when the ball is snapped. He's always looking the wrong way or busy chatting with a safety. It's ridiculous.

The healthiest part of our D and the most heralded, our CBs played awful yesterday - both of them. Time to man up.

IMO, PP appears to be a step slow on the receivers he's covering. He rarely looks back to play the ball, by then his receiver has it and then its too late.
I cant understand why he's great in one game, Lions, and then disappears in others. Thats not what makes a great corner.

Fans are dumb. This team isn't better with Jerroud Powers starting in place of Patrick Peterson. Peterson is part of the solution, not part of the problem.

You're right K9, but he was part of the problem yesterday.

I wonder if he's too buffed up. He seems a step slower this year. Maybe dropping some weight would help.

I dunno, what I do notice, is even if he's step for step with the receiver, he's rarely looking the right direction to actually make a play on the ball.

Yes... the PP who showed up against the Cowboys and Lions. But the other PP, not so much...

Not at all... Speed isn't the issue one bit. It's all between his ears. Even Keim this morning said that Peterson, physically, has what it takes to be elite. However, he's still "learning" the position and the required techniques. He specifically mentioned his footwork and positioning as issues.

No corner is a shut down corner without a pass rush to help.

That being said. I'm tired of him talking trash before games. Show up and let the media talk about it after you play the game.

He's had a lingering ankle injury all season long, FWIW

I agree with your first 2 points, fans are dumb and Powers is not a replacement for PP. That said PP is part of the problem when he should be a larger part of the solution. He is sort of like Cam Newton. All the ability in the world however he lacks the motivation and preparation he needs to do each and every game. He has great games when he is in the proper frame of mind and prepares and then he has games where his head is tucked up in his rear end because he is trying to see what he had for breakfast. He is the CB answer to Newton at the QB position. Elite skills and a total lack of consistent effort and mental preparation.

I suspect there is a book out on PP and it is throw at him early and if you get a certain read on him you can play him all day and not get hurt. Get a different read and you are best to avoid him.

He's a bi-polar CB. No offense to bi-polar people. Using it in a different context.
