Alexander Payne being nominated for that "Look at me in black and white! Please, nominate me for an Oscar" snoozefest Nebraska over Spike Jonze for Her or Greengrass for Phillips is a joke to me as well.

I can tell you Wolf was better then Banks. But I'm with ya on Nebraska...I could tell you A LOT of films that were better then that "I'm in black and white and arty and demand a nomination" Nebraska.

Generally not considered as good as Zero Dark Thirty or The Hurt Locker (which won a few years ago)

I saw Nebraska and while there were some quirky little moments that resembled some very dry form of humor and literally one, maybe two slightly touching moments that vaguely resembled emotion, they were all sprinkled in between 2 hours of total boring fluff that was disguised as an art film because woo-hoo it was one camera shot in B&W.

Seriously that movie was just barely a step between ok and terrible. It was neither but both. Nominated for best picture? That has to be a joke.

I guess there is some justice in the world. Gravity won every technical award but didn't win the big one, just as many on here thought it should go down. It was easily the most-seen best picture nominee, so I felt it was the front-runner.

I haven't seen 12 Years a Slave, but I guess I have to see it now. I just know I am going to be thoroughly depressed watching it, so it haven't been able to bring myself to see it or Dallas Buyers Club yet.

Thought the telecast was pretty good last night. They chose a safe host this year after the Mcfarlane Oscars. I thought that would make it lame. But Ellen did a decent job. The difference between her and a guy like Gervais is that she makes fun of the celebs to their face too, but she gets them to laugh along.
